Lakota Tech sweeps team titles at LNI wrestling tournament
The Lakota Tech boys and girls teams both won titles at Tuesday's Lakota Nation Invitational

RAPID CITY — Lakota Tech swept team titles at Tuesday’s Lakota Nation Invitational wrestling tournament. 

On the boys side, Lakota Tech had three individual champions and won the team title with 158 points, finishing ahead of Pine Ridge (110) and McLaughlin (104). 

Lakota Tech’s Zaniyan Iron Eyes (138), Antoine Running Bear (160) and Kolt Fox (195) won individual championships for the Tatanka. Pine Ridge’s Luke White Hawk (132), Semni Big Crow (145) and Jesse Hagen (182) claimed championships for the Thorpes. 

Winner Area’s Abe Kaiser (152) and Jude Sargent (170) won their respective weight classes. McLaughlin’s Ethan Ward (106) and Evan Hertel (126) captured individual championships. 

Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree’s Xadyn LaPlante (120), Todd County’s Rocky Wiedman (220) and Crow Creek’s Delbert Peters (285) were individual winners. 

Peters was named the outstanding wrestler of the tournament. 

The Lakota Tech girls captured the team title with 148 points, finishing ahead of Todd County (69) and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree (63). 

Lakota Tech’s Cante White Bull (120), Jessica Waln (132), Giada Scherich (142), Jordan Waln (170), Arlisa Waln (190) and Eriah Big Crow (285) captured individual titles for the Tatanka. 

Pine Ridge’s Louise Pond (106), Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree’s Eulayla Maynard (113), Red Cloud’s Isabella Scherich (126) and Little Wound’s Deshawniegh Iron Cloud (154) also claimed individual championships. 

Giada Scherich was named the outstanding wrestler of the tournament.
