March 1 Boys Basketball Roundup - Dell Rapids St. Mary clips Bridgewater-Emery, advances to SoDak 16

Dell Rapids St. Mary 52, Bridgewater-Emery 50

SALEM — Nic Gaspar and Trevon Beckman both reached double figures as Dell Rapids St. Mary defeated Bridgewater-Emery in Region 3B action Friday. 

Gaspar led all scorers with 25 points. Beckman finished with 13 points. Trimmier Hanson chipped in with five points for the Cardinals. 

Jase Kayser and Ben Weber led Bridgewate-Emery with with 19 points each

 

Howard 45, Chester 23

SALEM — A balanced scoring attack helped Howard punch their ticket to the Class B So Dak 16 with a win over Chester in boys basketball action Friday. 

Kolt Koepsell led Howard with 16 points. Luke Koepsell punched in 16 points for the TIgers. Carson Hinker added six points and Taiden Hoyer scored five points. 

Jovi Wolf led Chester with 19 points.


Wessington Springs 52, Corsica-Stickney 35

MITCHELL — After a slow start Wessington Springs sprinted past Corsica-Stickney to pick up a Region 5B boys basketball win Friday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell. 

Parker Graff hit three 3-pointers and finished with 14 points to lead Wessington Springs. Ryder Michalek also tallied 14 points for the Spartans. Colby Flowers scored 10 points and Brock Krueger chipped in with eight points. 

Lucas Catapano led Corsica-Stickney with 12 points. Jarrett Olawsky added eight points and Tyson Wentland finished with seven points. 


White River 64, Jones County 47

WHITE RIVER — Whiter River pulled away from Jones County for a Region 7B boys basketball win on Friday.

White River’s Nic Marshall logged 33 points, four assists and three rebounds. Jordan Uhlir added 15 points and four rebounds. Ray Crow logged six points, while Evastine Wright had five points. 

Jones County’s Kaden Kinsley had 18 points and four rebounds. Jett Nix posted 12 points and three rebounds. Cooper Feddersen finished with eight points and five rebounds. 


Gregory 44, Tripp-Delmont/Armour 25

MITCHELL — A balanced scoring effort helped Gregory to a Region 5B boys basketball win over Tripp-Delmont/Armour. 

Lonnie Klundt led the way with 17 points. Daniel Mitchell added 10 points and Colt Keiser added eight points. Noah Bearshield chipped in with six points.

Isaac Wunder had 16 points for Tripp-Delmont/Armour. Mason Reiner had seven points. 


Cheyenne-Eagle Butte 55, Stanley County 46

EAGLE BUTTE — Cheyenne-Eagle Butte rallied past Stanley County for a Region 6A boys basketball win on Friday.

CEB’s Damien Clown logged 18 points, while Levi Elk Nation added 11 points. Easton Lawrence scored nine points and Dayson Kennedy had six points.

For Stanley County, Broch Zeeb and Paxton Deal scored 14 points apiece. Eddie Duffy added eight points. 


Hanson 57, Bon Homme 35

ALEXANDRIA — A balanced scoring attack helped Hanson run past Bon Homme in Region 5B action Friday and into the Class A SoDak 16.

Jayce Slaba led the way for Hanson with 12 points, four assists and five rebounds. Sutton Dewald added 11 points and four assists. Ben Wilber finished with 10 points and six rebounds and Isayah Price chipped in with 10 points and four rebounds. 

Landon Schmidt and Landon Bares each scored seven points to lead Bon Homme. Chapin Cooper added six points and four assists.


Castlewood 62, Wolsey-Wessington 46

HURON — Three players reached double-figures as Castlewood advanced to next week’s Class B SoDak 16 with a Region 2B win over Wolsey-Wessington.

Bryon Laue hit 10-12 shots and finished with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists. Lane Tvedt added 14 points, two rebounds, five assists and four steals. Luke Baumberger chipped in with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists. 

Moshe Richmond led Wolsey-Wessington with 13 points and four rebounds. Caleb Richmond scored 11 points and Tate French grabbed 10 rebounds. Peyton Rainford had eight points and eight rebounds. 


Timber Lake 54, Lemmon 53

LEMMON — Timber Lake outlasted Lemmon for a Region 8B boys basketball win on Friday.

Gracen Hansen led the Panthers with 15 points. Tristan Dupris added 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Cole Ducheneaux posted 10 points. Kyler Bollinger logged nine points, while Kanton Hunt scored six points.

Lemmon’s Jacob Sonsalla scored a game-high 21 points. Blair Ham added 12 points, while Sawyer Thompson had eight points. Logan Penfield added six points. 

 

Hamlin 67, Clark/Willow Lake 32

HAYTI — Three players scored in double figures as Hamlin picked up a Region 2A boys basketball win on Friday.

Hamlin’s Tyson Stevenson finished with 21 points and four 3-pointers. Easton Neuendorf added 13 points, while Zac VanMeeteren had 10 points. Dawson Noem added eight points, while Evan Stormo scored six points. Jackson Wadsworth scored five points. 

CWL’s Emmerson Larson scored 11 points. Aaron Zemlicka had six points, while Bo Begeman and Sullivan Fellberg scored five points apiece.


De Smet 64, Deubrook Area 33

HURON — A balanced scoring attack helped De Smet race past Deubrook Area in boys basketball action Friday. 

Tom Aughenbaugh led De Smet with 15 points. Kadyn Fast added 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Britt Carlson had nine points and Trace Van Regenmorter finished with eight points. 

Colton Trooien led Deubrook Area with 13 points and three rebounds. Jacob Jorenby had 12 points for the Dolphins. 


Viborg-Hurley 86, Gayville-Volin 59

VIBORG — BIg nights from Brady Schroedermeier and Nick Hanson propelled Viborg-Hurley to a win over Gayville-Volin in Region 4B action Friday night. 

Schroedermeier led the way with 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Hanson finished with 20 points, ten rebounds and two blocked shots. Devin Sayler contributed 10 points and two rebounds while Bryson Morrison chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds. 

Stats for Gayville-Volin were not reported. 

 

Vermillion 56, Lennox 52 (OT)

LENNOX — Vermillion edged Lennox and advanced to the SoDak 16 on Friday.

Vermillion's Trey Hansen had 28 points, seven rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots. Carter Hansen added 12 points and eight rebounds. 

Lennox’s Porter Ihnen logged 20 points, while Tate Gerdes had 11 points and nine rebounds. Talan Diercks had eight points and Boston Katzer scored seven points. Teegan Musser added six points and five rebounds.

Centerville 61, Freeman 60

VIBORG — Three players reached double-figure scoring as Centerville slipped past Freeman Region 4B action Friday night. 

Aiden Bobzin led Centerville with 14 points, five rebounds and an assist. Brennen Tople added 13 points, five rebounds and three assists. Cole Edberg scored 11 points and Miles Eide scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Rocky Ammann paced Freeman with 17 points and nine rebounds. Luke Peters finished with 17 points, six rebounds and three assists. 


Leola/Frederick Area 77, Warner 44

LEOLA — Four players scored in double figures to pace Leola/Frederick Area to a Region 1B boys basketball win on Friday.

Leola/Frederick Area’s Brayden Sumption scored 19 points. Noah Kippley logged 16 points, while Ethan Petrich and Westyn Thorpe scored 13 points apiece. Gavin Nickelson had seven points.

Warner’s Jesiah Brown had 11 points, while Brodey Sauerwein scored 10 points. Tanner Wolberg and Zach Evans scored eight points apiece. Gavin Lane had seven points. 


Dakota Valley 72, Tea Area 61

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Logan Collette and Luke Bruns both had big nights as Dakota Valley advanced to the Class A SoDak 16 with a win over Tea Area on Friday. 

Colette hit seven 3-pointers and finished with a game high 27 points while stealing the ball five times. Bruns finished with 19 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. 

Sam Almas had 20 points, two rebounds and two steals for Tea. Boston Willemssen added 11 points, two rebounds and two steals for the TItans.


Milbank 59, Tiospa Zina 50

MILBANK —  Four players reached double-figure scoring as Milbank earned a spot in next week’s Class A SoDak 16 with a Region 1B win over Tiospa Zina on Friday. 

Garrett Mertens paced Milbank with 17 points, six rebounds and three assists. Jackson Wildung scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds. Joe Schulte had 11 points and six rebounds and Graham Lightfield had 10 points and four assists.

Carvin Fish led Tiospa Zina with 23 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Tate Never Misses A Shot had 10 points and five assists. 


Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 75, Parkston 66

PARKSTON — Three players scored in double figures as Sanborn Central/Woonsocket defeated Parkston in Region 5B action Friday. 

Jeff Boschee exploded for 33 points for the Blackhawks. Payton Uecker added 14 points and Bryce Larson chipped in with 13 points.

James Deckert led Parkston with 23 points. Will Jodozi and Payton Koehn each had 16 points for Parkston. 

 

Lakota Tech 61, Winner 48

WINNER — Big nights from Gilbert White Jr. and Mackenzie Cass propelled Lakota Tech to an upset win over Winner in Region 7B action Friday. 

White Jr. led the Tatanka with 17 points. Cass was right behind scoring 16 points. Julian Tonche added nine points and Treyton Sam scored eight points. 

Aiden Barfuss led Winner with 21 points. Shawn Hammerbeck added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Warriors. 

 

Rapid City Christian 50, St. Thomas More 45

RAPID CITY — Rapid City Christian punched their ticket to next week’s Class A SoDak 16 with a Region 8A win over St. Thomas More. 

Wilson Kieffer led the Comets with 13 points with Simon Kieffer adding 12 points. Benson Kieffer and Julius Frog each had nine points with Frog grabbing 10 rebounds. 

Baron Slusarski led St. Thomas More with 17 points. Lee Negebauer added 11 points for the Cavs.
