Rapid City Stevens 14, Mitchell 3 (5 innings) 

RAPID CITY — Ian Beer and Jackson Dial hammered home runs as Rapid City Stevens knocked off Mitchell in a high school baseball region contest on Friday. Stevens and Mitchell will play at 12:30 p.m. MST on Saturday in Game 2 of a best-of-three series. 

Beer finished 2-for-3 and hit a three-run homer as part of a seven-run third inning. Dial went 1-for-3 and hit an inside the park home run. Austin Flohr and Mason Brooks each had three hits, with Brooks driving in two runs. Flohr knocked in a run for Stevens, which recorded 16 hits. Blake Olmsted had two hits and drove in two runs. Morgan DelaPena, Teagen Smith and Ethan Wilson each had hits. Beer struck out seven hits, allowed five hits, two earned runs and walked two batters in five innings. 

For Mitchell, Hudson Borgan, Jaxson Hartman, Conor Mattke, Lincoln Bottum and Baylor Christensen each had hits. Christensen drove in a run. Jacob Ebert allowed three earned runs, three hits, one walk and struck out one batter through 1.1 innings. Mason Herman allowed 13 hits, eight earned runs and struck out four batters in 2.2 innings. 


Harrisburg 12, Sturgis Brown 0 (5 innings)

HARRISBURG — Kason Syverson’s complete game on the mound pushed Harrisburg to the Class A state tournament Friday.

Syverson tossed five shutout innings allowing just two hits and a walk, striking out nine batters while driving in a run on a hit and a walk at the plate. Ethan Beek drove in four runs on three hits, including a homer, Treydon Hofer totaled three RBIs, Michael Oakland drove in two runs on a double and a walk, while Jared Hawthorne added two hits and an RBI in the win.

Sturgis Brown’s Elijah Stroud allowed five runs in three innings, giving up four hits and three walks while striking out five. Bridger Massa-Battin and Tyler Cutts each tallied base hits in the loss.


Harrisburg 10, Sturgis Brown 0 (5 innings)

HARRISBURG — Eli Kokenge and Darren Safranski combined for 10 strikeouts in game one of the Class A Super Regionals Friday.

Kokenge allowed just two hits in three innings on the mound striking out four batters white Safranksi tossed two shutout innings, fanning six batters. Ethan Beek drove in three runs on two walks and a home run, Kokenge drove in a run on two hits, including a double, Noah Boschee added two RBIs on two hits and a walk while Michael Oakland collected an RBI single as well.

Bridger Massa-Battin and Kjell Sundstrom each tallied hits in the loss for Sturgis Brown.


Sioux Falls Lincoln 2, Tea Area 0

SIOUX FALLS — Connor Gray got the best of the pitcher’s duel to take game one for Sioux Falls Lincoln Thursday.

Gray allowed just four hits and three walks in a complete game shutout, striking out eight batters. Lincoln’s Opland Sonnichsen drove in a run on a sac-fly, while Colin Lunders and Dietrich Haan each cracked doubles in the win.

TA’s Bryson Prussman allowed two runs on three hits and five walks in six innings, striking out seven.

Tyson Gilbert and Ben Vasecka each totaled two hits in the loss.


Sioux Falls Lincoln 10, Tea Area 0

SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Lincoln collected 10 hits as the Patriots punched their ticket to the Class A state tournament Thursday night.

Jude Timat led the Patriots with three RBIs on two hits, Colin Lunders drove in two runs on a triple, Brayden Olson and Dietrich Haan each had two hits, a double and an RBI, while Kale Meyer and Creighton Childress each collected an RBI in the win. Haan took the victory on the mound for SFL with six shutout innings of work, surrendering just four hits and a walk, fanning six batters.

TA’s Cole McKinney took the loss for the Titans allowing seven runs in five innings, including seven hits and a walk. Landyn Johnson led all batters with two hits in the loss.


Sioux Falls O’Gorman 12, Aberdeen 5

SIOUX FALLS — The Knight’s offense powered Sioux Falls O’Gorman to a win in game one against Aberdeen Friday evening.

Jack Stukel, Rylan Arbogast and Sullivan Schlimgen each tallied two hits and an RBI, Bennett Duncan and Brogan Moffit each added two RBIs on one hit, combining for three walks, while Andrew Bloom and Zach Sprenkle each drove in a run in the win as well. Arbogast claimed the victory on the mound in five innings pitched, surrendering five runs on six hits and four walks, striking out three batters.

Aberdeen’s Joe Cogley took the loss allowing seven runs on five hits and seven walks, striking out two in two innings. Jeheil Aviles drove in a run on two hits and a walk while Grant Beyer, Karson Borge and Cogley each collected a hit and an RBI in the loss.


Sioux Falls O’Gorman 13, Aberdeen 2 (5 innings)

SIOUX FALLS — Sullivan Schlimgen cracked two home runs as Sioux Falls O’Gorman punched its ticket to the Class A state tournament Friday.

Schlimgen batted 3-for-4 with two homers and three RBIs, Brogan Moffit added three hits, a double, and two RBIs, Bennett Duncan totaled three hits, a double, triple and two RBIs, while Sam Donohoe, Andrew Bloom and Jack Stukel each tallied RBI singles in the win. John Lent tossed all five innings for the Knights, allowing two unearned runs on one hit and four walks, striking out 11 batters.

Brayden Bowman took the loss for Aberdeen, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits and three walks in 3.1 innings, striking out three batters. Ridley Waldo collected the lone hit of the game for Aberdeen.


Brandon Valley 4, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 0

SIOUX FALLS — Aiden Zerr’s 11-strikeout game on the mound powered Brandon Valley to a game one win over Roosevelt Friday.

Zerr earned the victory for the Lynx pitching 5.2 shutout innings, allowing just one hit and three walks while fanning 11 batters. Zerr also collected two hits and a walk, including a double for BV.

Bryton Stroh drove in two runs on a single while Nolan Pudwill, Ryland Carroll and Maxwell Peters each tallied hits in the win.

Roosevelt’s Logan Edwards took the loss suffering four runs on six hits and a walk in six innings, striking out eight batters. Jacob Mongar collected the only hit of the game for the Rough Riders.


Sioux Falls Jefferson 9, Spearfish 6 

SIOUX FALLS — Ethan Biggar struck out 13 batters as Jefferson defeated Spearfish in high school baseball action Friday.

Biggar allowed four hits, four runs (one earned) and walked two batters in 4.2 innings. Ben Honkomp added four strikeouts through 1.1 innings, allowing three hits, two earned runs and two walks. Noah McFarlane struck out one batter in one relief inning. 

Noah Kuenzi finished 2-for-4 and drove in four runs at the plate. Mason Payne and Boston Bryant both drove in two runs. Brody Jacobson and Carson Hughes added two hits. 

For Spearfish, Jack Branum allowed 10 hits, eight earned runs, three walks and struck out four batters in six innings. Branum also drove in two runs on offense. Tucker Olson finished 3-for-4 at the plate. Darin Crooks added two hits, while Jack Scharf drove in a run.
