Rapid City Stevens 11, Mitchell 6

RAPID CITY — Rapid City Stevens outlasted Mitchell to advance to the Class A state tournament Saturday.

Austin Flohr batted 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Stevens, Mason Brooks collected three hits, a walk, double and an RBI, Ian Beer drove in two runs on two hits, Blake Olmsted tallied two hits, two walks and an RBI, while Jackson Dial and Morgan DelaPena each drove in two runs on a double in the win. Brooks tossed five innings for the Raiders allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks to take the victory on the mound.

Mitchell’s Carter McCormick took the loss allowing 10 runs on 11 hits and three walks in five innings pitched. Hudson Borgan tallied three hits, a double, a walk and an RBI, Conor Mattke drove in two runs on two hits, Landen Soulek had one hit, two walks and an RBI while Bayler Christensen tallied two hits in the loss.


Mitchell 5, Rapid City Stevens 4 (8 innings)

RAPID CITY — Landen Soulek’s RBI single helped Mitchell take game two over Rapid City Stevens Saturday.

Soulek collected two hits and an RBI in the win, Parker Madel drove in two runs on a double while Carter McCormick tallied an RBI single in the win as well. Mandel took the win on the mound in 3.2 innings of relief, allowing just one hit and two walks, fanning eight batters.

Stevens’ Austin Flohr allowed one run on three hits and two walks in 2.1 innings of relief. Mason Brooks drove in a run on two hits, a triple and a walk, Blake Olmsted totaled an RBI on a double and a walk, while Flohr tallied a hit and a walk in the loss.


Brandon Valley 11, Sioux Falls Roosevelt 4

BRANDON — Brandon Valley blasted four home runs as the Lynx clinched a spot in the Class A state tournament Saturday.

Aiden Zerr led the offense with two hits, including a home run totaling four RBIs in the game, Bryton Stroh blasted a three-run homer, Chase Leary added two hits, one home run and two RBIs while Jack Blomgren added a solo home run in the slugfest as well. Carter LaBrie earned the victory on the mound allowing three runs on three walks in 2.2 innings, striking out three batters.

Roosevelt’s Chris Logue took the loss allowing six runs on five hits and two walks in five innings of work. Jacob Mongar batted 2-for-3 with a walk while Lawsen Hensley and Tucker DeHaan each added hits in the loss.


Sioux Falls Jefferson 10, Spearfish 1

SIOUX FALLS — Cason Mediger drove in four runs as Sioux Falls Jefferson punched its ticket to the Class A state baseball tournament Saturday.

Mediger finished the game with three hits, including a triple and four RBIs, Boston Bryant collected three hits, two triples and an RBI, Brody Jacobsen added three hits, a triple and an RBI. Noah Kuenzi, Carson Hughes and Caleb Goodroad each drove in runs on one hit while Easton Riley tallied a double and a triple for the Cavaliers. Everett Salonen took the win in five innings of shutout baseball, allowing just two hits and three walks, fanning 10 batters.

Spearfish’s Walker Viessman took the loss allowing nine runs on 13 hits in 5.1 innings pitched. Sean Sewell collected two hits while Jack Branum launched a solo home run for the Spartans.


Watertown 6, Pierre 1

PIERRE — Kaden Rylance struck out 19 batters as Watertown claimed game one against Pierre Saturday.

Rylance tossed a complete game in the win, allowing just one run on two hits and two walks to go with 19 strikeouts. Nash Berg drove in two runs on one hit for the Arrows, Hayden Ries collected two hits and an RBI while Mitch Olson totaled a double and a walk as well.

Pierre’s Ridge Leimbach took the loss, surrendering six runs on five hits and two walks in 5.2 innings, striking out 10 batters. Cooper Terwilliger and C Simpson each tallied hits in the loss.


Watertown 5, Pierre 1

PIERRE — Nathan Briggs drove in three runs as the No. 12 Arrows upset No. 5 Pierre, punching their ticket to Class A state tournament Saturday.

Briggs drove in three runs on a double in the third, tossing one shutout inning in relief to close out the game. Nash Berg and Mitch Olson each drove in a run, combining for five hits in the win as well. Talan Jurgens was the winning pitcher with a seven-strikeout game, allowing three hits, three walks and one unearned run.

Pierre’s Will Danburg took the loss allowing five unearned runs on eight hits and a walk in six innings, striking out four. Hudson Stoeser drove in a run on two hits while Ridge Leimbach tallied a hit in the loss for the Governor’s.


Yankton 6, Brookings 4

YANKTON — A four-run fourth inning powered Yankton to a game one victory over Brookings Saturday evening.

Trey Sager led the Bucks with two RBIs on one hit, Matthew Sheldon and Samuel Gokie each drove in a run on one hit while Gavin Johnson tallied an RBI on two walks in the win. Gokie took the victory on the mound allowing three runs on four hits and three walks in 5.2 innings, striking out five batters.

Brookings’ Noah Lease took the loss allowing six runs on four hits and four walks in five innings pitched. Tyson Antonen tallied two hits and an RBI, Cooper Schneider added two hits while Tane Friedrich blasted a solo home run in the loss.

 

Yankton 9, Brookings 1

YANKTON —  Easton Feser drives in four runs as Yankton clinched the final spot in the Class A state tournament Saturday night.

Feser drove in four runs on two hits, a double, homer and a walk, Beck Ryken tallied two hits and two RBIs, Gavin Johnson launched a solo home run, while Owen Wishon added an RBI in the win as well. Ryken took the victory in 6.2 innings pitched, allowing one run on three hits and three walks, striking out three batters.

Brookings’ Tyson Antonen allowed six runs on eight hits and five walks in 4.2 innings, fanning four batters. Talon Hyde drove in a run on two hits for the Bobcats in the loss.
