Burke 66, Gregory 62 (OT)

MITCHELL — Burke outlasted Gregory in an overtime thriller to qualify for the SoDak 16 on Friday.

Ben Witt led the Cougars with 35 points and hit five 3-pointers. Reed Benter netted 13 points and hit three 3-pointers. Bryce Frank added 11 points and Nick Nelson netted six points. 

Gregory’s Daniel Mitchell posted 35 points and hit four 3-pointers. Jordan Songer finished with 12 points, while Cruz Klundt scored six points. Carson Klundt netted five points.

Platte-Geddes 52, Corsica-Stickney 38

MITCHELL — Caden Foxley and Dawson Hoffman combined for 30 points as Platte-Geddes advanced to the SoDak 16 with a win over Corsica-Stickney on Friday. 

Foxley finished with 16 points, while Hoffman added 14 points. Joey Foxley scored eight points, while Hayes Rabenberg and Cole Nachtigal netted five points apiece.

Corsica-Stickney’s Taven Burke scored 16 points and Tyson Wentland added nine points. Cole Feenstra finished with six points.

Freeman Academy/ Marion 66, Irene-Wakonda 32

FREEMAN — Freeman Academy/Marion used a strong second quarter and two double-figure scorers to earn a boys basketball win Friday. 

Thaniel Schroeder led all players with 20 points while adding six rebounds. Conn0r Epp finished with 15 points and six assists as the Bearcats advanced to next week’s So Dak 16.

Connor Libby led Irene-Wakonda with nine points.  

 

Chester Area 45, Howard 44

SALEM — Chester Area outscored Howard 11-6 in the fourth quarter to secure a Region 4B boys basketball win on Friday. Chester Area advances to the SoDak 16 with the win. 

Jovi Wolf finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and four 3-pointers. Ryan Benson added nine points, nine rebounds and six assists. Ashton Olivier had seven points, while Stratton Eppard added four points and six rebounds. 

Howard’s Luke Koespell recorded 13 points, while Kolt Koepsell finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Jace Sifore had 11 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Ryder Erickson logged seven points. 


Ethan 41, Bridgewater-Emery 38

SALEM — Ethan held off Bridgewater-Emery in Region 4B boys basketball action to earn a trip to the SoDak 16 on Friday.  

Ethan’s Riley Endres finished with 17 points and five rebounds. Jay Storm logged nine points and eight rebounds. Taite Klumb recorded six points, while Kody Klumb logged five points. Kaden Klumb grabbed eight rebounds. 

BE’s Sutton Arend finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Sam Hofer added 10 points and four rebounds. Camdyn Stoterau finished with five points and six rebounds. Aguer Van Sickle grabbed seven rebounds. 


Castlewood 45, Wolsey-Wessington 41

MADISON — Castlewood advances to next week’s SoDak 16 earning a boys basketball win on Friday in Madison. 

Tristan Nielsen finished with 22 points while pulling down five rebounds. Lane Tvedt added 10 points. Byron Laue scored six points while adding a team high eight rebounds. 

Wolsey-Wessington had two players reach double figures. Payson Gohn had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Carson Zomer also added 11 points. 


Winner 72, Mobridge-Pollock 52

WINNER — After leading 30-29 at intermission, Winner exploded for 28 third-quarter points on its way to a boys basketball win Friday.

Blake Volmer contributed 21 points and eight rebounds to lead Winner. Elijah Peterson reached double figures with 12 points. Slade Cournoyer and Jackson Vesely each scored nine for Winner who improved to 21-1. 

Michael Wald led Mobridge/Pollock with 19 points. Trent Schmeichel added 10 points for the Tigers. 


Hanson 56, Bon Homme 20

ALEXANDRIA — Hanson had three players reach double figures as the Beavers rolled into the So Dak 16 with a boys basketball win Friday. 

Luke Haiar led Hanson with 17 points. Ethan Cheeseman added 16 points and five rebounds. Noah Price finished with 10 points and five rebounds. 

Riley Rothschadl and Chapin Cooper each scored five points to lead Bon Homme. 


Potter County 77, Faulkton Area 56

GETTYSBURG — Potter County punched their ticket to the SoDak 16 with a home boys basketball win on Friday. 

Grant Luikens led all scorers with 31 points while adding nine rebounds. Drake Bassett added 20 points for the Battlers. Cooper Logan and Seth Sharp each scored eight points. 

Faulkton Area was led by Layne Cotton who scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Hunter Neiderbeumer added 14 points with Bennett Cassens adding 12 points. 

 

Aberdeen Christian 60, Langford Area 47

WEBSTER — Aberdeen Christian held off Langford Area for a Region 1B boys basketball win on Friday. 

Jackson Isakson finished with 25 points, while Malek Wieker scored 17 points. Ethan Russell netted nine points. Blake Rich added five points. 

Jesse Keough led Langford Area with 23 points, while Brayden Peterson scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds.

 

Waubay/Summit 66, Warner 51

WEBSTER — Waubay/Summit pulled away from Warner for a Region 1B boys basketball win on Friday. 

Waubay/Summit’s Damon Opdahl finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds and five assists, Jonathon Johnston added 16 points and Seth Gaikowski scored 13 points. J Gulbraa added 11 points. 

Warner’s Hunter Cramer scored 24 points and Trekk Hannahs netted 14 points.


Dakota Valley 73, Vermillion 35

NORTH SIOUX CITY — Top-ranked Dakota Valley cruised into the SoDak 16 with a boys basketball win Friday. 

Isaac Bruns led the way with 23 points and seven rebounds. Randy Rosenquist finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Jaxson Wingert added 11 points while Jaxon Hennies finished with 10 points. 

No stats were reported for Vermillion. 


Flandreau 56, Deubrook Area 37

FLANDREAU — Flandreau advanced to next week’s SoDak 16 behind the double figure scoring of two players. 

Tash Lunday finished with 26 points and 15 rebounds. Chase LeBrun added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Fliers. 

Sutton Fritz and Nick Bowne each scored 10 points for Deubrook Area. 


Sioux Valley 71, Hamlin 52

VOLGA — Sioux Valley punched their ticket to Tuesday’s SoDak 16 with a boys basketball win Friday. 

Hayden Ruesink led all scorers with 26 points while pulling down 10 rebounds. Oliver Vincent added 17 points. Parker Puetz scored eight points and dished out six assists. 

Hamlin was led in scoring by Brennan Keszler who finished with 20 points. Tyson Stevenson added 14 points for the Chargers. 


Mount Vernon/Plankinton 52, Parkston 38

PLANKINTON — Mount Vernon/Plankinton powered into the SoDak 16 with a boys basketball win on Friday night. 

Reed Rus led the way with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Zach Baker tossed in 12 points for the Titans. Jordan Stoltz added nine points in the win. 

Parkston’s Kaleb Weber scored 11 points, while Will Jodozi added nine points. Max Scott finished with eight points. 


De Smet 79, Estelline/Hendricks 50

MADISON — Five players reached double-figures as top ranked De Smet moved into the SoDak 16 with a win Friday. 

Kalen Garry led all scorers with 20 points. Troy Holland added 18 points with Rett Osthus, Damon Wilkinson and Blake Van Regenmorter all scored 10 points. Osthus also scored his 1,000th career point in the win. 

Estelline/Hendricks was led by Braxton Saathoff with 19 points. Lorenzo Iotti added 10 points for the Redhawks who finished their season at 13-8. 


Viborg-Hurley 48, Centerville 32

FREEMAN — Two players reached double-figures as Viborg-Hurley punched their ticket to next week’s SoDak 16. Hayden Gilbert finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Gage Goettertz added 14 points for the Cougars. 

Logan Bobzin led Centerville with 12 points with Cole Edberg adding seven points.
