Alexandria Angels 12, Tabor Bluebirds 7

ALEXANDRIA — Alexandria plated nine runs in the final two innings to pick up a non-league amateur baseball win on Thursday.

Tucker Kingsbury finished with 2-for-2 for Alexandria, which scored four runs in the seventh inning to go ahead 7-4. The Angels added five runs in the eighth inning to secure the win. 

Alexandria’s Peyton Smith drove in a team-high four runs. Landon Ruesink, Cole Wenande, Tyson Gau, Jordan Gau and Jackson Jarding each had hits. Jordan Gau drove in two runs. 

Jacob Giles struck out four batters, allowed five hits, three earned runs and walked two batters through four innings. Wyatt Kayser earned the win after allowing one hit, zero runs and struck out two batters in 1.2 relief innings. 

Tabor’s Joey Slama, Beau Rothschadl, Bryce Scieszinski and Sam Caba each had two hits. Caba and Mace Merkwan drove in two runs apiece. Rothschadl took the loss after allowing four hits, four earned runs, walked three batters and struck out zero in one inning. 

 

Mount Vernon Mustangs 15, Plankinton Bankers 7

PLANKINTON — Mount Vernon picked up 12 hits to roll past the Bankers in amateur baseball action Thursday.

Walker Hultgren went 3-for-6 on the night, including a double and a triple, driving in four runs, Spencer Neugebauer batted 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk and 2-RBIs, Bradley Dean went 3-for-5 with a walk, driving in two more runs.

Chase Hetland, Brady Albrecht, Deric Denning, and Cameron Deinert also added hits in the win.

The Mustangs used an arsenal of pitchers, with Eric Giblin seeing the most success striking out nine batters in five innings, allowing just two runs.

For Plankinton, Austin Hauge took the loss in four innings pitched, giving up four hits, one walk, and eight earned runs.

Thomas Stange led the team in hits with three including 3-RBIs and a walk, while five other batters contributed hits in the loss.


Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 13, Parkston Mudcats 2 (7 innings)

PARKSTON — The Flying Squirrels racked up 15 hits en route to victory against the Mudcats Thursday night.

Jaden Holzer had the best bat, racking up three hits on three at-bats, including a walk and three-RBIs.

Connor Hurley, Trevor Hurley, and Stuart Baruth collected two hits apiece in the victory as well.

Baruth was the winning pitcher for Sioux Falls, issuing five hits, two walks, and two earned runs to go with nine strikeouts in his six innings of work.

For Parkston, Jake Weber took the loss on the mound, suffering seven hits, a walk, and nine runs in three innings pitched.

Jeff Harris went 2-for-3 at the plate, including an RBI double to score the first run for the Mudcats.

Ryan McGinnis, Doug Sudbeck, and Weber also collected hits in the loss.


Winner/Colome Pheasants 19, Freeman Black Sox 2 (6 innings)

FREEMAN — The Pheasants racked up 13 hits, three home runs as they dominated in amateur baseball action Thursday night.

Oscar Pravecek dominated at the plate for W/C, batting 3-for-4 with two home runs, eight RBIs, and a walk. Derek Graesser added three hits and a walk, driving in four runs, Drew DeMers collected two hits, a double and two RBIs, and Chandler Bakley went 2-for-4, a home run and drove in two runs.

Patrick Starr was the winning pitcher, throwing five strikeouts in five innings, allowing five hits and two runs.

For Freeman, Sam Gillespie was the losing pitcher, allowing six runs on two hits, while walking eight batters in 2.2 innings.

Bailey Sage added two hits, a double and a home run offensively, while Gillespie, Jonah Hofer, and Austin Schmidt each tallied hits in the loss.

Dell Rapids PBR 8, Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 0

DELL RAPIDS —  Three PBR pitchers combined to blank the Dairy Queen Broncos in amateur baseball action Thursday night.

Grant Sweeter was the winning pitcher for PBR, tossing five shutout innings allowing just two hits and three walks.

Brayden Pankonen and Zack Puetz each tallied two hits, with Puetz recording a double and three RBIs.

Drew Sweeter, CJ Smith, and Will Jaton each tallied a hit and an RBI in the win as well.

For Madison, Brock Minnaert took the loss on the bump, issuing three hits, six runs, and four walks in 2.2 innings pitched.

Dawson Bakker tallied two hits, while three other batters tallied hits in the loss for PBR.


Crofton Blue Jays (Neb.) 6, Lesterville Broncs 1

CROFTON — Crofton’s James Kaiser and Austin Tramp combine for big days at the plate as Crofton defeated Lesterville in South Central League action Thursday night.

Kaiser batted 2-for-4 with a walk in the game, including a double and a home run, while Tramp went a perfect 3-for-3 with a triple and two walks, driving in another run.

Jared Wiebelhaus, Colton Schieffer, and Devin Hegge collected two hits apiece as well, driving in a combined four runs.

Zach Hegge went the distance for the Blue Jays, throwing six strikeouts in nine innings allowing just one run on six hits.

For Lesterville, Michael Drotzmann earned the loss, surrendering 10 hits, four walks, and five runs in 6.1 innings on the mound.

Garret Damico led the Broncs in hits with two including a double, while Drotzmann, Hunter Martin, and Trent Herrboldt all tallied hits in the loss.


Flandreau Blue Teal 16, Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks 3

FLANDREAU — The Blue Teal racked up 16 hits to earn a Corn Belt League victory over the Wood Ducks Thursday night.

The lead-off batter Tanner Christenson had the hot bat for Flandreau, batting 4-for-4 with a double, a walk, and two RBIs.

Tash Lunday added three hits and a walk including a double and two RBIs. Kolby Peters, Mason Riley, and Paul McGlone combined for six more hits, two more RBIs, and three walks.

Ethan Hoffman earned the win on the mound for Flandreau, throwing five strikeouts in three innings, allowing two hits and one unearned run.

For H/H, Nathan Adrian earned the loss in 1.2 innings pitched, allowing five hits and four runs.

Jearl Jesson tacked on two doubles in four at-bats, while Logan Larson, Brayden Odegaard, and Presten Riddle each added hits in the loss.

 

Dell Rapids Mudcats 7, Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks 3

HUMBOLDT — Mudcat pitcher Kris Regas fanned 10 batters in five innings to help push Dell Rapids to a Corn Belt League victory Thursday night.

Regas allowed just three hits and one run in his five innings on the mound, before John Spaeth and Mark Abrahamson would combine for four walks, one hit, and two unearned runs over the final four frames.

Dalton Lehnen drove in three runs for the Mudcats on two hits, as well as drawing two walks. Ty Hoglund also recorded a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 with an RBI in the victory.

Carter Gullickson, Spencer Freudenthal, and Grant Olson all tallied one hit apiece.

For the Gamecocks, Carver Hultgren, Nate Masloski, and Blake Svoboda all saw time on the mound, allowing seven hits, 10 walks, and six earned runs while combining for 11 strikeouts.

Masloski, Carter Halverson, Devon Garry, and Broc Halderman each tallied hits in the loss.
