Canova Gang 17, Flandreau Blue Teal 2 (6 innings)

CANOVA — Jack Nieses drove in six runs as the Canova Gang picked up a Cornbelt League win over the Blue Teal Sunday.

Nieces batted 4-for-4 with three doubles, driving in six runs, Jared Miller added a 3-for-3 day with a walk, two doubles and a homer adding five RBIs in the win. Garrett Gassman tallied three RBIs on two doubles, T Gassman drove in two runs on one hit while Riley Genzslinger added two hits as well. Derek Miller allowed just two runs on eight hits and two walks, striking out seven in his winning outing.

For Flandreau, Tristan Peters took the loss on the mound suffering nine runs on nine hits and three walks, striking out five batters in five innings. E Nathan and Tash Lunday each had multiple hits while Peters drove in a run on a walk in the loss.


Dell Rapids PBR 8, Salem Cubs 2

SALEM — Drew Sweeter tallied four hits and struck out five batters as the defending champ Dell Rapids PBR earned a Cornbelt League victory over the Salem Cubs Sunday.

Sweeter batted 4-for-4 with a walk and three RBIs while tossing three shutout innings, allowing just one hit while fanning five batters for PBR. Brayden Pankonen added three hits and an RBI while Conner Spindler and Riley Calhoon each drove in runs in the win.

Salem’s Braeden Kerkhove allowed six runs on six hits and three walks in four innings, striking out four batters. Kyle Tuschen, Luke Loudenburg, Owen Alley and Isaac Anderson each tallied hits in the loss.


Milbank Firechiefs 4, Volga Cormorants 0 (7 innings)

MILBANK — Dom Boerger struck out 18 batters as the Firechiefs took down Volga in Eastern Dakota League action Sunday.

Boerger allowed three hits in a complete game shutout to go along with 18 strikeouts, driving in a run on a double at the plate. Kellen Hoeke, Ward Davis and Tanner Hallquist each drove in runs in the win as well.

For Volga, Connor Gross took the loss allowing four runs on five hits and a walk in six innings, striking out six batters. Layne Lucas tallied two hits, including a double for the Cormorants.


Milbank Firechiefs 9, Volga Cormorants 1 (7 innings)

MILBANK — Dom Boerger, Brady Krause and Mitch Quade combined for seven hits and five RBIs as the Firechiefs swept Volga in a double header Sunday.

Boerger totaled two hits and a walk, Krause added two hits and two RBIs while Mitch Quade led all batters with three hits and three RBIs in the game. Kellen Hoeke and Ward Davis each drove in a run in the win as well. Krause tossed all seven innings for Milbank allowing just one run on eight hits and three walks, striking out six.

Carter Gross took the loss for Volga allowing three runs on two hits and two walks in two innings. Gross, Layne Lucas, and Jake Steffenson each tallied multi-hit games in the loss.


Harrisburg Woodies 10, Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing Dirt Devils 0 (7 innings)

HARRISBURG — Josh Baumgart and Palmer Boyd threw a combined one-hitter as the Woodies defeated the Lennox/Chancellor/Worthing Dirt Devils Sunday.

Baumgart took the win in three innings pitched allowing just one baserunner on a hit-by-pitch, striking out three while Boyd gave up just one hit and two walks in four innings, striking out nine batters.

Jake Adams had four hits and two RBIs, Tyler Mitzel tallied two hits and three RBIs, Maddux Scherer drove in a run on three hits, including a triple, while Jack Sutton and Kole Zimmerman each had RBIs on singles in the win.

For the Dirt Devils, Conner Eich took the loss allowing seven runs on 11 hits and two walks in five innings, striking out six. Triston Butler had the lone hit of the game for LCW.


Lesterville Broncs 6, Irene Cardinals 5 (7 innings)

LESTERVILLE — Lesterville hung on to beat Irene in the first half of a South Central League double header Sunday.

Hunter Martin drove in two runs on two hits, including a double, Michael Drotzmann drove in two RBIs, while Skyler Bloch tallied two hits in the win. Martin earned the win in four innings pitched, allowing one run on just three hits.

Irene’s Marcus VanDriel totaled six runs on four hits and three walks in five innings of work, fanning 10 batters in the losing effort. Anthony De La Torre Guglielmana totaled two hits, a double and an RBI while Jacob Kribell and Justin Hall each drove in a run in the loss.


Lesterville Broncs 18, Irene Cardinals 8 (5 innings)

LESTERVILLE — Tyler Edler drove in five runs as the Broncs swept the Cardinals in Sunday’s South Central League double header.

Edler batted 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and a home run totaling five RBIs, Ethan Wishon tallied two hits, a double and a walk, driving in two runs, Jace Walloch drove in two runs on a hit and a walk, Garret Damico had two hits, two walks and an RBI, Derek Quame batted 3-for-4, Michael Drotzmann totaled two hits and a walk, while Dawson Bietz and Tanner Skorepa each drove in a run, combining for four walks in the win. Hunter Martin tossed 1.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits to take the win on the mound.

Irene’s Jake Delange took the loss allowing four runs on three hits and three walks in one inning pitched.

Cole Edberg batted 2-for-2 with a double and homer, totaling three RBIs, Delange added two hits and two RBIs, while Alex Kopf and Dustin Livingston each drove in a run on one hit and one walk in the loss.


Flandreau Cardinals 14, Madison Dairy Queen Broncos 4 (8 innings)

FLANDREAU — Bret Severtson tossed four shutout innings as Flandreau defeated Madison in Cornbelt League action Sunday.

Severtson allowed just one hit and one walk in four innings, striking out six batters to earn the victory on the mound.

Austin King drove in three runs on one hit and two walks for the Cardinals, Grant Hieb added one hit, two walks and an RBI, Noel Burgos drove in two runs on two hits while Jake Patterson launched a solo home run, tallying two RBIs in the win.

For Madison, Tyler Tappe took the loss surrendering six runs on four hits and four walks in 2.2 innings, recording three strikeouts. Ty Jorgenson, Jared Kennington, Nate Ricke and JD Kirchner each drove in runs on hits in the loss.


Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks 16, Hartford/Humboldt Wood Ducks 8

HUMBOLDT — The Gamecocks drove in 13 runs on 13 hits to pick up an in-town rivalry win over the Wood Ducks Sunday.

Joe Hanisch collected three RBIs on a home run and and a walk, Ryan Holgate tallied three RBIs on two hits, Blake Svoboda added two hits, a double and three RBIs, Noah Vettrus totaled two RBIs on one hit, Jonah Rechtenbaugh tallied two hits and an RBI while Walker Hultgren batted 3-for-4 with a walk, double and an RBI in the win. Svoboda was the winning pitcher allowing three runs on three hits and four walks in three innings, striking out four batters.

For the Wood Ducks, Andrew Zimmer allowed six unearned runs on four walks in 0.2 innings pitched. Braden Herr drove in four runs on two hits, including a double, Brodie Herr added two hits and two walks, while Dominick Chandaswang, Brayden Odegaard and Jearl Jesson each drove in runs on one hit in the loss.


Platte Killer Tomatoes 14, Alexandria Angels 9

PLATTE — The Killer Tomatoes jumped out to a 13-run lead as Platte cruised to a Sunshine League victory over Alexandria Sunday.

Grant Doom led the KTs with two hits, including a grand slam, Dawson Hoffman drove in two runs on two hits, Preston Nedved added three hits, two doubles, and an RBI, Travis Gant, Jimmy DeWaard and Michael Buitenbos each added two hits and an RBI, including doubles by DeWaard and Gant, while Richard Sternberg drove in a run on three walks in the win. Doom was the winning pitcher tossing 1.2 innings, allowing just one hit and three walks, striking out four batters.

Alex’s Jacob Giles allowed eight runs on eight hits and two walks in two innings pitched. Tyson Gau drove in three runs on two hits, Jerrod Zens drove in three runs on three hits, a double, triple, and a walk, Landon Reusink tallied two hits and an RBI while Cole Wenande had one hit, two walks and an RBI in the loss.


Winner/Colome Pheasants 12, Dimock/Emery Raptors 0 (7 innings)

WINNER — Winner/Colome pounded out 11 hits as the Pheasants earned a mercy rule victory over Dimock/Emery Sunday.

Chandler Bakley drove in four runs on two doubles and a walk in the win, Reed Harter added two hits and two RBIs, Austin Richey collected two hits, a double, a walk and an RBI, Derek Graesser tallied one home run, one walk and two RBIs in the win. Aiden Barfuss and Austin Calhoon each notched two hits in the game as well. Graesser tossed a complete game shutout for the Pheasants, totaling just three hits and a walk while striking out 13.

For the Raptors, Josh Engquist allowed five runs on three hits and four walks in just one inning, taking the loss. Drew Kitchens collected two hits, one double, in the loss as well.


Parkston Mudcats 6, Parkston Devil Rays 1

PARKSTON — A five-run eighth inning powered the Parkston Mudcats to an in-town rivalry win over the Parkston Devil Rays Sunday.

Brady Nolz earned the victory in a complete game effort, allowing just one run on five hits and a walk, recording eight strikeouts for the Mudcats. Luke Bormann led the Mudcats with two hits and a walk, Brayden Jervik drove in a run on one hit, Ryan McGinnis added an RBI, while Jeff Harris, Cullen Verville and Braxton Wilhelm each tallied hits in the win.

For the Devil Rays, Ty Neugebauer took the loss allowing five runs on three hits and four walks in three innings pitched, striking out two. Doug Sudbeck drove in a run on two hits while Dylan Soulek notched a triple in the loss.


Mount Vernon Mustangs 10, Corsica Horned Frogs 6

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon improved to 3-0 on the season after pulling away late to beat Corsica Sunday evening.

Bradley Dean tallied two hits and a walk in the win, driving in two runs as well. Brady Albrecht drove in three runs on one hit and one walk, Deric Denning had two hits, a walk, and an RBI, Austin Graves drove in two runs on a single while Spencer Neugebauer had two hits and a walk in the win. Dean earned the victory on the mound in 7.1 innings, allowing five runs on 10 hits and four walks, striking out seven batters.

For Corsica, Brendan Wentland allowed three runs on one hit and five walks in three innings pitched, striking out four batters to take the loss. Wentland batted 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, Gavin Zomer collected three hits, a walk and an RBI, Blake Moke recorded two hits while Logan Bakker and Kyle Menning each drove in a run on a double in the loss.


Wynot Expos (Neb.) 9, Freeman Black Sox 5

WYNOT — Wynot pounded 12 hits as the Expos defeated Freeman in South Central League play Sunday.

Landon Wieseler drove in four runs on three hits, including a double in the win, Jackson Subeck batted 3-for-5 with a double, homer, and an RBI, Jaelen Wiesler tallied two hits, a walk and an RBI, while Ryan Heimes drove in a run on one hit in the win as well. Landon Wieseler allowed one run on five hits in six innings, striking out eight batters.

For Freeman, Jackson Fiegen allowed seven runs on seven hits and three walks in five innings, striking out six batters. Fiegen and Colton Spader each drove in a run on two hits, including a solo home run by Spader, while Jake Weier drove in two runs on a homer in the loss.


Yankton Lakers 7, Crofton BlueJays (Neb.) 1

CROFTON — Dylan Rodgers was efficient on the mound for the Lakers in their South Central League victory over Crofton Sunday.

Rodgers allowed just one run on three hits and a walk in six innings, striking out five batters to earn the victory on the mound. Will Rauch drove in two runs on two doubles and a walk, Lucas Kampshoff drove in a run on two hits and a walk, Mac Ryken tallied a hit and two walks while Rugby Ryken added two hits, a double and a walk in the win as well.

Brayden Hegge took the loss, suffering three runs on three hits and seven walks in four innings, striking out three batters. Zach Hegge tallied two hits while Wilson Munzke, Colton Schieffer and Justin Potts each tallied hits in the loss.
