In dramatic fashion, Miller’s Linda DeBoer captured her 700th career coaching win on Sept. 12. 

The Rustlers outlasted Class B No. 3 Northwestern in a five-set high school volleyball thriller on Tuesday. The set scores were 16-25, 25-19, 26-24, 20-25 and 15-12.

Miller’s Paige Werdel finished with 18 kills, while Aleah Schlechter finished with 13 kills, 31 digs and three blocks. Shaylee Anderberg logged nine kills, 26 digs and two aces. Heather Resel had 45 assists and three aces. Jolie Palmer posted 24 digs and four aces. Gracen Werdel had three blocks.

The five-set victory gave DeBoer her 700th career coaching win. In 31 seasons as a head coach, DeBoer is 700-253-2. She guided the Rustlers to a fourth-place finish at the state tournament last season. 

Miller (5-2) will host Faulkton Area on Thursday, Sept. 14.
