CHAMBERLAIN -- For much of Thursday's 5,000-meter race at the Chamberlain Country Club, Mobridge-Pollock’s Heidi Olson and Chamberlain's Kinsey Evans battled during the Chamberlain Invite/Big Dakota Conference meet.

On the back side of the course, on the second loop, Olson took control and stormed to the finish line with a season-best time of 18:40 with Evans coming across the line in 19:21. Olson's time was good enough that she would have finished 13th in the boys race

The Chamberlain girls won the team title scoring nine points to outdistance Sioux Valley, which had 19.

Much like the girls individual race, Chamberlain’s Dom Santiago and Miller’s Pierce Baumberger ran side-by-side during the 5,000-meter run.

On that second loop, the senior Santiago hit another gear coming home with a season-best time of 16:30. Baumberger ran a solid race, running 16:51 to just edge a hard charging Kade Watson (Winner) who finished in 16:59.

It was another team title and another demonstrative win for the Miller, which finished second, fourth and ninth on its way to scoring 15 points.
