Oct. 1 Volleyball Roundup - Class AA No. 2 O'Gorman edges Class A No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian in five sets

O’Gorman 3, Sioux Falls Christian 2

SIOUX FALLS — Class AA No. 2 O’Gorman outlasted Class A No. 1 Sioux Falls Christian in a five-set volleyball match on Saturday. The set scores were 25-23, 24-26, 25-16, 15-25, and 15-10.

O'Gorman's Bergen Reilly led with 28 kills, 25 digs, four blocks, and two aces. Brogan Beck tallied nine kills, while Gabriella Jones had 46 digs. Brooke Harvison recorded 51 assists, while Kiera McManus had three blocks. Sabrina Tynan added two aces.

SFC was led by Ellie Lems with 18 kills and 11 digs, while Taylor Byl had 15 kills and three blocks. Peyton Poppema tallied 13 kills and 12 digs, while Sideny Oostra had 11 kills and 20 digs. Lavin Maddox recorded a team-high 22 digs, while Addisen Barber and Maggie Keepers added 15 and 10 digs, respectively. Barber also had 50 assists.


Burke 3, Tripp-Delmont/Armour 0

LAKE ANDES — Class B No. 4 Burke won the Great Plains Conference Tournament on Saturday. The Cougars defeated Avon (25-10, 25-6), Centerville (25-10, 25-18), and Corsica-Stickney (25-5, 25-6) en route to the championship match. Burke defeated Tripp-Delmont/Armour in the championship match. The set scores were 25-14 and 25-17.

Burke’s Adisyn Indahl recorded 12 kills and 13 digs, while Kailee Frank had eight kills and nine digs. Elle Johnson had 14 digs and two aces, while Ava Sargent had eight digs and eight assists. Emmie Hausmann and Paige Bull logged six and five kills, respectively. Elly Witt added 12 assists.

Tripp-Delmont/Armour stats were not reported.


Mobridge-Pollock 3, Winner 2

MOBRIDGE — Mobridge-Pollock outlasted Winner for a five-set high school volleyball win on Saturday. The set scores were 20-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-11, and 18-16.

Mobridge-Pollock’s Emma Keller led with 14 kills, 21 assists, and three aces. Charley Henderson tallied 12 kills and three blocks, while Kyli Thompson and Mariah Goehring had seven and six kills, respectively. Katy Kemnitz had 19 assists and two aces, while Gretchen Olson had three aces. Reagan Weisbeck and Raelyn Aberle added 42 and 11 digs, respectively.

Winner’s Keelie Kuil tallied 14 kills and three aces, while Preslie Petersek had 11 kills and 31 digs. Lexi Klein had 24 digs, 16 assists, and two blocks, while Gracie Root also had 16 assists.  Karlee Brozik also had two blocks, while Aleya Miller had four aces.


Wagner 3, Tri-Valley 0

WAGNER — Class A No. 3 Wagner swept Tri-Valley in high school volleyball action on Saturday. The set scores were 25-8, 25-17, and 25-17.

Wagner’s Emma Yost tallied 17 kills and two aces, while Avari Bruguier had eight kills and 12 digs. Shalayne Nagel recorded 10 digs, while Macy Koupal had 35 assists. Shona Kocer and Kya Kjeldgaard added five and three blocks, respectively.

Tri-Valley’s Erica Bicknase and Megan Wenzel each had five kills, while Emery Pearson had four kills. Kenzie Atwood tallied 16 digs, while Allisyn Ruth had 14 digs and two aces. Ava Pearson had two blocks, while Nevaeh Grann and Brooklyn Stieben each had eight assists. Talya Vincent had 16 digs, while Ashley Bjerke had five kills, seven digs, and 14 assists. Sunny Hesby added 17 assists and 11 digs.

 

Sioux Valley 3, Beresford 0

BERESFORD --- Sioux Valley swept Beresford for a high school volleyball win on Saturday. The set scores were 25-23, 25-11, and 25-17.

Sioux Valley's Landree Wilson led with 10 kills, while Adison Renkly and Kaedyn Sapp each had nine kills. Sapp added 21 digs, while Renkly had 11 digs. 

Beresford's Megan DeLay and Maddie Erickson had seven kills apiece. Rachel Zanter had 16 digs, while Autumn Namminga and Larissa Tiedeman each had nine digs. Tiedeman also had 15 assists.


Marshall, Minn. 3, Brookings 0

MARSHALL, MINN. — Marshall, Minn. swept Brookings in high school volleyball action on Saturday. The set scores were 25-5, 25-6, and 25-11.

Brookings was led by Tayla Dobrenski and Calista Rohl with three kills apiece. Gracie Adamson tallied eight digs, eight assists, and two blocks, while Sydney Bebensee recorded six digs and one ace. Tess Burns and Gracey Sheridan added three and two blocks, respectively.
