Philip boys capture fourth consecutive state cross country team title

HURON — The Philip boys captured its fourth consecutive state team title at Saturday’s State B cross country meet at Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron.

The Scotties posted a score of 12 points to win its fifth team title in school history, just edging Mitchell Christian in second place with 16 points. Dupree took home third place with 48 points as well.

Mitchell Christian’s Silas Holdeman made his return as individual champion with a time of 16:16.94, winning his second individual title in three years (2023). Philip’s Jack Peterson (16:27.57) and Baylor Burns (16:33.27) came in second place and third place, respectively. MC’s Luke Mentele (16:46.34) took fourth while Herreid/Selby Area’s Gavin Hirsch (16:56.79) finished fifth to round out the top-5 runners.
