Pierre girls capture team title at Lee Wolf Invitational

ABERDEEN — Powered by five individual champions the Pierre girls won Saturday’s Lee Wolf Invitational, outscoring their nearest competition by more than 100 points. 

The Governor girls racked up 224.5 points ahead of Aberdeen Central (122) and Viborg-Hurley (116). Bismarck Century, North Dakota (96) and Watertown (92) rounded out the top five. 

Sydney Uhrig (106), Gianna Stangeland (132), Abbigail Lewis (142), Hattie Baldwin (154) and Ciara McFarling (285) each won individual titles for Pierre. 

Viborg-Hurley had two champions in Gia Miller (170) and Lauren Peterson (190). Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon also had two champions, Britney Rueb (120) and Peyton Hellmann (126). 

The other individual championship went to Clark/Willow Lake’s Dani Batchelor (113).

 Lakota Tech girls win team title at Belle Fourche Invitational

BELLE FOURCHE — The Lakota Tech girls racked up 122 points ahead of Spearfish (96) and Rapid City Stevens (86) to win Saturday’s Belle Fourche Invitational. Sturgis (62) and Lead-Deadwood (51) rounded out the top five.

Serenity True Blood (106 B) and Aileana Brewer (142 B) both won individual titles for the Tatanka.

Spearfish’s No. 1 ranked wrestlers Maraia Kruske (106) and Taylor Graveman (132) won titles for the Spartans.

Sturgis picked up two champions with Brooklyn Baird (113) and Madison Snyder (126).

Rapid City Stevens had two champions, Marieda Kalahar (142) and Bella Morteo (170).  Custer also had two champions, Addie Sandler (113 B) and Jessica Mckenney (190).

The other individual title went to Lead-Deadwood’s Trinity Zopp (154).

Mitchell wins team title at Les Tlustos Invitational

BROOKINGS — The Mitchell girls claimed two individual titles on their way to a team title at Saturday’s Les Tlustos Invitational in Brookings. 

Mitchell racked up 36 points ahead of Brookings (33) and Dell Rapids (31). Rapid City Central (21) and Flandreau (13) rounded out the top-five. 

Frankie Kranz (106) and Danny Borja (120) each won titles for the Kernels. 

Faith Caldron (126) and Maya Erickson (154) each won titles for Brookings. 

Other individual winners were Rapid City Central’s Anna Henstein (113), Dell Rapids’ Bailey Credeur (132), Flandreaus’s Jayden Lange (142) and West Central’s Allison Foote.

Groton Area girls finish second at Groton Invitational

GROTON — Weather forced quite a few grapplers to miss Saturday’s Groton Girls Invitational. Despite those missing the tournament produced some outstanding wrestling. 

Groton Area’s best results came in the 142-pound bracket. Jaycie Leir lost an early match against teammate Hollie Frost then came back with two pins to claim the title in that weight class. 

Other individual South Dakota champions were Lemmon/McIntosh’s Dina Beyers (120) and Canistota’s Lily Montgomery (170).
