Brandon Valley rolled the competition at Saturday’s East West Duals running off four wins over quality Class A teams in Pierre. 

The Lynx defeated Rapid City Stevens (43-25), Spearfish (70-10), Sturgis (44-27) and Rapid City Central (75-6). 

Pierre was equally impressive defeating Spearfish (72-9), Rapid City Stevens (54-11), Rapid City Central (62-9) and Sturgis (36-27). 

Brandon Valley remains No. 1 in the Week 8 Class A wrestling poll with 197 projected points, ahead of Sturgis (163) and Watertown (154). Pierre (153) and Harrisburg (113) round out the top-five of the rankings, which are released each week by dakotagrappler.com. 

Couple of big movers this week in the individual rankings as West Central’s Karson Vessells (113) jumped from No. 6 to No. 2 in his weight class. Sisseton’s Ian Metz went from unranked to No. 2 in the 120 class. Sisseton made its debut in the team rankings this week coming in at No. 12 with 41 projected points. 

There are two new No. 1 wrestlers this week as Brookings’ Nolan Mills (126) jumped from No. 4 to No. 1. Harrisburg’s Jack Deters takes over the No. 1 ranking over Aiden Werlinger of Sturgis in the 195-pound class.
