RAPID CITY — The Pierre boys and girls wrestling teams made it a clean sweep as both teams won titles at Saturday’s Rapid City Invitational. 

The Pierre boys didn’t win an individual title but the Governors racked up 196 points to finish in front of Sturgis (178) and Watertown (160.5). Thunder Basin, Wyoming (149.5) and Tea Area (144) rounded out the top-five. 

The Philip/Kadoka Area/Wall Badlands Brawlers had a pair of champions in Blair Blasius (152) and Burk Blasius (170). Sturgis also had a pair of champions in Reese Jacobs (182) and Aiden Werlnger (195). 

Other South Dakota champions were Sioux Falls Jefferson’s Aidan Wells (106), Watertown’s Sloan Johannsen (120), Huron’s Moses Gross (145) and Chamberlain’s Noah Hutmacher (220). 

The Governor girls racked up 223 points to our distance themselves from Bismarck, North Dakota (161) and Spearfish (139). Rapid City Stevens (98) and Harrisburg (94) rounded out the top-five. 

Sydney Uhrig (106), Mary Mehlhaff (170), Marlee Shorter (190) and Ciara McFarling (285) all won titles for Pierre.

Other South Dakota champions were Lemmon/McIntosh’s Quinn Butler (120), Harrisburg’s Regina Stoeser (126), Bon Homme/Avon’s Peyton Hellmann, Spearfish’s Taylor Graveman (Fierbach (142)) and Lead-Deadwood’s Trinity Zopp (154)
