STURGIS — Rapid City Stevens’ Elias Gillen won a pair of throwing events at Saturday’s Black Hills Classic track and field meet. 

Gillen won the shot put (56-5), discus (176-8) and was among several Rapid City Stevens athletes that shined at the meet. 

Rapid City Stevens’ Jack Day won the 110-meter hurdles (:14.42) and finished second in the 300-meter hurdles (:41.12). Day, Liam LaCarrubba, JonPaul Sullivan and Marcus Kuehl won the 400-meter relay (:43.28). 

LaCarrubba, Sullivan, Nolan Long and Kuehl won the 800-meter relay (1:29.88). 

Rapid City Stevens’ Miles Brekhus won the 400-meter dash (:50.80). Rapid City Stevens’ Tate VanBeek won the 800-meter run (2:00.11). 

Rapid City Stevens’ Elijah Sturis won the triple jump (42-10). 

Bennett County’s Rush O’Neill won the 100-meter dash (:11.02), 200-meter dash (:22.20) and long jump (22-2). 

Philip’s Jack Peterson won the 3,200-meter run (10:00.51). Philip’s Teagan Gropper, Tyce Gropper, David McKinley and Baylor Burns won the sprint medley relay (3:38.09). 

Sturgis’ Ty Petrocco, Quinn Bruch, Taylor Colunga and Ty Ferguson won the 3,200-meter relay (8:04.48). 

Custer’s Roland Sedlacek won the javelin (174-7). Rapid City Central’s Braedon Isler won the high jump (6-1). Lead-Deadwood’s Cruz Mollman won the pole vault (13-0). Rapid City Christian’s Ezra Wildeman won the 300-meter hurdles (:38.96). 

In girls action, Rapid City Stevens’ Ella Bradeen won the 100-meter dash (:12.01) and placed third in the 200-meter dash (:24.87). Bradeen, Maya Khachikian, Riley Willet and Ava Holzwarth won the 400-meter relay in :47.68, setting the state’s all-time record in the event. 

The quartet broke the previous record set by Sioux Falls Lincoln (:47.84) in 2021. 

Rapid City Stevens’ Avery Dormann won the 800-meter run (2:20.25). Rapid City Stevens’ Whitli Adams won the 3,200-meter run (12:23.78). Rapid City Stevens’ Brienna Brewer won the javelin (123-9) 

Bennett County’s Reagan O’Neill won the 200-meter dash (:24.38) and long jump (17-4.25). Bennett County’s Peyson O’Neill won the 400-meter dash (:59.45), 110-meter hurdles (:14.40) and high jump (5-5). Bennett County’s Harley Harris won the triple jump (35-4). 

Custer’s Ciana Stiefel won the pole vault at 12-6, finishing ahead of her sister Kelsey Stiefel (12-0). 

Custer’s Jayda Bennett won the 300-meter hurdles (:47.32). Custer’s Karyn Ellerton won the discus (131-6) and placed third in the shot put (34-6). 

Belle Fourche’s Ansley O’Brien, Mikka Dunavant, Mya Nowowiejski and Kailey Nowowiejski won the 800-meter relay (1:46.52). 

Lemmon’s Brynn Odenbach, Karly Riley, Jordyn Kohn and Chel Odenbach won the 3,200-meter relay (10:07.67). 

Spearfish’s Sevana Thompson, Gabrielle Ranek, Auna Taglioli and Peyton VanDeest won the sprint medley relay (4:10.65). Taglioli, Sierra Sandford, Makitay Raysor and VanDeest won the 1,600-meter relay (4:06.25). 

Rapid City Central’s Abigail Flanegan won the shot put (40-0).
