Rapid City Stevens sweeps team titles at Douglas Early Bird Invitational
Rapid City Stevens' Tate Van Beek and Hill City's Tate Grabow are neck-and-neck midway through the course while competing in the Douglas Early Bird Invitational on Friday morning at Prairie Ridge Golf Course in Box Elder. Van Beek and Grabow went 1-2 in the event.

BOX ELDER — Rapid City Stevens ran away with team titles at Friday’s Douglas Early Bird Invitational at Prairie Ridge Golf Course.

The Stevens girls totaled 15 points, finishing ahead of Spearfish (34) and Belle Fourche (67). The Stevens boys recorded 17 points, finishing ahead of Douglas (49) and Spearfish (50).

Individually, Stevens’ Tate Van Beek was the boys individual winner, covering the 5,000-meter distance in 15 minutes and :51.25 seconds. Hill City’s Tate Grabow (16:00.85) and Stevens’ Evan Perrigo (16:23.54) finished second and third, respectively. Douglas’ Wyatt Balliew (16:25.85) and Stevens’ Torin Jackson (16:31.91) rounded out the top-five runners.

In the girls race, Spearfish’s Kori Keil won in 18:55.95. Stevens’ Kadance Holso (18:57.91) and Brinna Sheldon (19:19.86) placed second and third, respectively. Stevens’ Evelyn Hurley (19:38.04) and Douglas’ Kira Ubence (20:14.90) rounded out the top-five finishers.
