Rarity Cournoyer, Lance Bradley capture Lakota Nation Invitational cross-country titles
Red Cloud freshman Rarity Cournoyer won the girls race at Saturday's Lakota Nation Invitational in Rapid City.

RAPID CITY — Red Cloud’s Rarity Cournoyer and Standing Rock, North Dakota’s Lance Bradley won Lakota Nation individual cross-country titles Saturday at the Hart Ranch Camping Resort.

Cournoyer, a freshman at Red Cloud, finished the 5,000-meter course in 20 minutes and 37.34 seconds, ahead of Rapid City Central’s Sheridan Madden (20:52) and Rapid City Christian’s Taylor Harrelson (21:09). Standing Rock’s Brianna Thompson (21:44) and Rapid City Central’s Kelty Sibernagel (21:48) rounded out the top-five finishers. 

In the boy’s race, Bradley ran the 5,000-meter course in 17:06, ahead of McLaughlin’s Jayden Taken Alive, 17:41 and Standing Rock’s Jarrett Kelly, 17:50. Wyoming Indian’s Colton SunRhodes, 18:00 and Rapid City Christian’s Lionel Hinson, 18:13 rounded out the top-five finishers. 

Rapid City Central won the girls team title scoring 18 points, well ahead of Wyoming Indian (40) and Todd County (40). St. Francis Indian (67) and Lakota Tech (73) rounded out the top-five teams. 

Rapid City Central won the boys team race with 40 points, ahead of Standing Rock, North Dakota (55) and Wyoming Indian (56). Rapid City Stevens (63) and McLaughlin (74) rounded out the top-five teams.
