FORT PIERRE — A slight scheduling change at the South Dakota High School Rodeo Association Finals Rodeo as athletes in the reined cow horse, girls cutting and boys cutting participated in their first go-round on Wednesday. 

In the reined cow horse competition, Alzada, Montana’s Dallie Lawrence topped the field with a score of 144.5. Pierre’s Ryan Scheppick had a run of 140.5 while Landry Haugen of Sturgis and Layne Stevens of St. Lawrence both had runs that scored 140. Sheppick is the overall points leader (44) with Lawrence at (43). 

In the girls cutting competition Meadow’s Macy Schiley had the top score of the day (143) with Layni Stevens and Whitewood’s Tava Saxton both had runs of 142. Schiley is your overall points leader with 42 points, Stevens is in second with 41.5 points. 

In the boys cutting competition Blunt’s Paden Belkham had the top run Wednesday with a score of 142. White River’s Rhone Schmidt scored 140 with Faith’s Trey Fuller scoring 137 points. Belkam and Fuller are tied in overall points with 43.
