PARKSTON — The South Dakota Baseball Coaches Association held the 30th Annual American Legion All-Star Games in Parkston on Monday.

Team Red edged Team Black in Game 1 by a score of 9-8. Tim Dixon (Vermillion) led Team Red on the hill, allowing eight runs on nine hits, along with six earned runs and 11 strikeouts in six innings.

Team Red recorded 14 hits, with Jay Storm (Parkston), Carter Powell (Big Stone City), and Adam Strei (Big Stone City) leading with two hits apiece. Nick Hokenstad (Brandon Valley) and Brendan Wentland (Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney) led with two RBI apiece.

Trent Herrboldt (Tabor) led Team Black on the mound, giving up three earned runs on seven hits, while striking out three in 2 ⅓ innings.

Pierce Kettering (Groton) and Nate Meyers (Brandon Valley) led Team Black with two RBI each.

In Game 2, Team Black won by a score of 5-4 when Hudson Fuller (Clark) scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh inning.

Sean Wahlfeldt (Belle Fourche) took the win for Team Black, surrendering zero runs on one hit, while striking out three in four innings. Fuller, Nate Meyers (Brandon Valley), Logan Kelling (Brandon Valley), Dalton Davis (Belle Fourche), Ayden Spicer (Brandon Valley), Matt Brown (Brandon Valley), and Charlie Ward (Vermillion) each had one hit for Team Black. Kelling and Davis led Team Black with one RBI each.

Storm took the loss for Team Red, allowing one run on one hit, along with one strikeout in ⅔ of an inning.

Ben Witt (Gregory County) led Team Red with two hits, while Carter Powell (Big Stone City) added one hit. Wentland, Max Scott (Parkston), Austin Reiter (Brandon Valley), and Thomas Stange (Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney) had one RBI apiece.
