VERMILLION — Sioux Falls Christian’s Paul Hoekman powered the Chargers to a team title at Thursday’s Vermillion Booster Club track and field meet. 

Hoekman was a triple winner in the shot put (63-9), discus (170-1) and javelin (141-9). As a team, Sioux Falls Christian tallied 145 points for the title. Lennox (91) and Tea Area (56) finished second and third, respectively. 

The Sioux Falls Christian girls won the team title with 130.2 points, ahead of Lennox (101.2) and Dakota Valley (69). 

In boys action, Sioux Falls Christian’s Maddox Johnson won the long jump (20-9.75) and triple jump (43-2.5). 

The Sioux Falls Christian quartet of Jackson Prins, Brant Wassenaar, Wesley Lyon and Bennett Wassenaar won the 3,200-meter relay (8:37.84). 

Madison’s Shane Veenhof won the 110-meter hurdles (:14.45) and 300-meter hurdles (:41.64). 

Lennox’s Tate Gerdes cleared 6-2 to win the high jump, and added a third-place finish in the triple jump (38-3). 

West Central’s Peyton Tetzlaff won the 3,200-meter run (10:14.61) and placed third in the 1,600-meter run (4:46.86). 

Tea Area won the 400-meter relay (:44.63), 800-meter relay (1:34.13) 

In girls action, Sioux Falls Christian’s Mya VanDonge (:12.71) and Alexis McEntee (:12.93) finished first and second, respectively. VanDonge, McEntee, Emory Lems and Katie VanderLeest teamed up to win the 400-meter relay (:51.10). 

The Sioux Falls Christian quartet of Sadie Pettengill, Natalie Smith, Anna Vyn and Ellie Maddox won the 3,200-meter relay (9:31.00). 

Halle Braun won the 100-meter hurdles (:15.47) and finished fourth in the 200-meter dash (:25.94) for the Chargers. In the pole vault, McEntee (9-6) and Victoria Gassen (9-0) finished first and second, respectively. 

Dakota Valley’s Claire Munch claimed first-place finishes in the long jump (17-0.5) and triple jump (36-3.5), while she added a second-place finish in the high jump (5-0). Madison’s Lydia Nelson (5-3) won the high jump. 

Centerville’s Emma Marshall won the 400-meter dash (1:00.01), finished second in the long jump (16-11.50) and 200-meter dash (:25.85). 

Lennox’s Bergan Musser claimed the 200-meter dash (:25.09) and was on the winning 800-meter relay (1:47.36).
