WATERTOWN — McIntosh’s Wyatt Larson carded a 2-over-par 74 and leads after Day 1 of the Class B golf tournament. 

Larson fired a 34 on the front nine, including three birdies. Larson scored a 40 on the back nine after Prairie Winds Golf Club. 

Edmunds Central’s Harrison Beyers is in second place with a 77, while Gregory’s Eli Fogel and Ethan’s Rylan Gerlach are tied for third place with 78s. Colman-Egan’s Taylor Kriech, Sully Buttes’ Gavin Colson, Herreid/Selby Area’s Tray Hettick and Webster Area’s Blaize Amdahl are tied for fifth place with 79s. 

In the team race, Gregory and Ethan are tied atop the standings with 243s. Edmunds Central and Colman-Egan are tied for third with 252s. Wessington Springs (253) rounds out the top five.

Chester Area leads girls race after Day 1

WATERTOWN — Chester Area carded a 245 and leads Day 1 of the Class B girls golf tournament at Cattail Crossing Golf Course.

The Flyers hold a seven-shot lead over Bison/Hettinger/Scranton (252) in the team race. Miller (260), Howard (272) and Deubrook Area (273) round out the top five. 

Individually, Bison/Hettinger/Scranton’s Allison Kahler shot a 4-over-par 76 and leads Chester Area’s Jadyn McDonald (78) and Bison/Hettinger/Scranton’s Greta Anderson (78). 

Clark/Willow Lake’s Brynn Roehrich (79) and Chester Area’s Ayla McDonald (79) are tied for fourth place.  


Sioux Falls Christian sits atop Class A 

RAPID CITY — Sioux Falls Christian holds a four-shot lead over conference rival Vermillion after Day 1 of the Class A girls golf tournament.

The Chargers shot a 339, while Vermillion shot a 343 after Day 1 at Meadowbrook Golf Course. St. Thomas More (359), Dakota Valley (363) and Canton (374) round out the top-five teams. 

Aberdeen Roncalli’s Claire Crawford shot a 9-over-par 81 and leads a logjam of golfers in the individual standings. St. Thomas More’s Rylan Horning (82) is tied for second, while Sioux Falls Christian’s Tori Peterson (83) and Vermillion’s Stephanie Carr (83) are tied for third place. Dakota Valley’s Katie Betsworth (84) is in fifth place. 


Meyerink, Mitchell lead Class AA race

PIERRE — Mitchell holds a seven-shot lead after Day 1 of the Class AA girls golf tournament at Hillsview Golf Club. The Kernels shot a 309 and leads conference rival Aberdeen Central (316) in the team race. Stevens (320), Watertown (325) and O’Gorman (336) round out the top five.

Individually, Mitchell’s Allison Meyerink carded a 2-under-par 70, shooting a 35 on the front and back nine. 

Aberdeen Central’s Olivia Braun (73) and Huron’s Bryn Huber (76) are third and fourth, respectively. Yankton’s Ellia Homstad (77), Stevens’ Lauren Knapp (77), Mitchell’s Quinn Dannenbring (77) and Spearfish’s Alison Kennedy (77) are tied for fifth place.
