FORT PIERRE — State champions were crowned and national qualifying spots were clinched at Saturday’s South Dakota High School Finals Rodeo Association Finals. 

The top-four individuals in each event qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals in Gillette, Wyoming, on July 16-22. 

The state champions included: Sturgis’ Kashton Ford (bareback riding), Wall’s Piper Cordes (barrel racing), Colman’s Josie Mousel (breakaway roping), New Underwood’s Kash Krogman (bull riding), Norris’ Caden Stoddard (boys cutting), Sturgis’ Landry Haugen (goat tying and girls cutting), Buffalo’s Aspen Vining (pole bending), Alzada’s Dallie Lawrence (reined cow horse), New Underwood’s Eastan West (saddle bronc riding), Creighton’s Quinn Moon (steer wrestling), Belle Fourche’s Rance Bowden and Sern Weishaar (team roping) and Buffalo’s Grey Gilbert (tie-down roping).
