The golf meets are in Rapid City (Class B boys/girls), Sioux Falls (Class A girls) and Brookings (Class AA girls).

Here’s a closer look at each individual class:

Class B Girls

Location: Hart Ranch Golf Course.

Notes: Only an eighth-grader, Miller’s Jayce Pugh is the Class B defending champ and won this season’s Region 5B title at Hillsview Golf Club in Pierre. … Pugh is in Monday’s No. 1 group, along with Chester Area’s Jadyn McDonald, Bison/Hettinger/Scranton’s Allison Kahler and Clark/Willow Lake’s Brynn Roehrich. … Kahler, junior, tied for second at last year’s tournament and has won every tournament this season. … Bison/Hettinger/Scranton returns its top four golfers from last season’s state runner-up finish, including Kahler and Greta Anderson, who finished fourth a year ago. The Cardinals have won every team title this season. … Chester Area has two golfers — Jadyn McDonald and Ayla McDonald — in Monday’s two lead groups. The Flyers won the Region 2B golf meet, shooting a 264 at Rocky Run Golf Course in Dell Rapids. Jadyn McDonald (82) and Ayla McDonald (85) finished first and second, respectively. … A perennial power, Deubrook Area placed third at state last season and second at the Region 2B meet. At the region meet, Deubrook Area’s Bailey Landmark (88) and Allison Andrews (90) finished third and fourth, respectively. Landmark captured sixth last season at state. … Burke’s Adisyn Indahl placed fifth at state last season and placed second at the Region 4B meet. … Andes Central/Dakota Christian’s Abigail Svatos tied for seventh at state last season and won the Region 4B meet. 

Class B Boys

Notes: The Elks Golf Course.

Outlook: Faulkton Area’s Bennett Cassens is the top-returning finisher last season, placing second at last year’s meet in Brookings. Cassens is in Monday’s lead group with Ipswich’s Luke Peterson, Colman-Egan’s Taylor Kriech and Chester Area’s Ashton Olivier. In the Region 5B meet, Peterson fired a 4-under-par 68 to win individual medalist honors. Cassens (74) placed second. … Chester Area won last year’s state title and won this season’s Region 2B meet by 19 shots over De Smet. In the region meet, Kriech shot a 74 to earn individual medalist honors and Olivier (75) finished second. Chester Area’s Brayden Vogel (80) and Chase McDonald (85) both added top-10 finishes at the region meet. … There’s a host of Region 4B golfers in the first several groups on Monday, including Gregory’s Kade Stukel, Platte-Geddes’ Dawson Hoffman, Ethan’s Kody Klumb, Gregory’s Eli Fogel, Burke’s Bryce Frank, Ethan’s Kaden Klumb, Kimball/White Lake’s Kaden Tyrell, Hanson’s Jayden Kayser, Hanson’s Keenan Waldera, Ethan’s Rylan Gerlach and Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Cole Larsch. … McIntosh’s Wyatt Larson is in Monday’s second group and won the Region 6B individual medalist honors with a 77. He tied for ninth last season. … Great Plains Lutheran’s Sam Hansen tied for third last season and is in Monday’s second group. … Wall’s Reid Hansen, who also tied for third a season ago, is also back this year. 

Class A Girls

Location: Bakker Crossing Golf Course.

Notes: Beresford’s Maiya Muller won last season’s Class A state title and is in Monday’s second group. She finished fourth at this season’s Region 2A meet. … Sioux Falls Christian, which captured state titles in 2019 and 2021, won the Region 2A meet by 14 strokes over second-place Vermillion. The Chargers played their region meet at Bakker Crossing Golf Course, site of this year’s state meet. … Sioux Falls Christian’s Sydney Tims was the Region 2A individual medalist, but not without some drama. Tims, along with Canton’s Olivia Sorlie, shot 81s after 18 holes and Tims earned the title after two playoff holes. … Sorlie, Tims, St. Thomas More’s Rylan Horning and Flandreau’s Keva Bursheim are in Monday’s lead group. … Sioux Falls Christian’s Cecelia VanDenTop (84) placed third at the region meet and is in Monday’s second group. … Vermillion’s Stephanie Carr (86) took fifth at the region meet and is also in Monday’s second group.

Class AA Girls

Location: Brookings Country Club. 

Notes: Harrisburg’s Reese Jansa, who won last season’s Class AA title, is in Monday’s lead group. Jansa, who will golf next season at Division I Toledo, won last season’s title with a record 8-under-par 134. … Jansa is joined in Monday’s lead group with Aberdeen Central’s Olivia Braun, Mitchell’s Allison Meyerink and Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Lauren Sutcliffe. … Sioux Falls O’Gorman has won nine Class AA state championships since 2010. … The Knights won last season’s with a 622, finishing 35 shots ahead of second-place Mitchell. Last season, Sutcliffe and Emily Kolb finished third and fourth, respectively. O’Gorman’s Macee Bartels, Paydyn Peterson, Erin Hurd and Samantha Miller are also top golfers for the team.
