SIOUX FALLS — Sioux Falls Christian placed four golfers in the top-12 finishers to secure the Region 2A girls golf championship on Tuesday.

Sioux Falls Christian’s Sydney Tims was the individual medalist to pace the Chargers. She shot an 81 and was tied with Canton’s Olivia Sorlie after 18 holes, but Tims parred the second playoff hole to earn the victory at Bakker Crossing Golf Course. 

Tims’ round was highlighted by a 38 on the front nine, including two back-to-back birdies on the No. 5 and No. 6 holes. Sorlie carded a 43 on the front nine, but surged back with a 38 and six pars on the back nine. 

Sioux Falls Christian’s Cecelia VanDenTop shot an 84 to earn a third-place finish. Sioux Falls Christian’s Tori Peterson (93) and Claire Lamfers (94) finished in ties for 11th and 12th, respectively. 

Beresford’s Maiya Muller (85) and Vermillion’s Stephanie Carr (86) rounded out the top-five golfers. 

Sioux Falls Christian (352), Vermillion (366) and Canton (390) finished first-through-third, qualifying all their golfers for the state meet. The Class A girls golf tournament is June 6-7 at Bakker Crossing.
