FRISCO, Texas — Tea Area’s Keeton Newborg is tied for 55th place after Day 1 of the 2023 Boys High School Golf National Invitational, which is made up of the top high school golfers across the country. 

The invitational is a 3-day, 54-hole stroke play event including team and individual competition. Competition rounds will take place on the PGA Frisco campus – Fields Ranch-East, Fields Ranch-West and The Tribute Golf Links

Newborg shot a 73 at the Fields Ranch-West. Newborg’s round included a 34 on the back nine. 

Harrisburg’s Riley Christensen shot a 74 and is tied for 61st place. Harrisburg golfers Charlie Swift and Hayden Scott are tied for 76th place with 75s. Harrisburg’s Parker Schultz (76, T-92) and Will Parsons (80, T-159) rounded out the South Dakota golfers after the first day.
