Team Black sweeps Team Red in Legion All-Star Games

Legion All-Stars Black 11, Legion All-Stars Red 6

CANOVA — The Legion All-Stars Black racked up 13 hits as it defeated the Legion All-Stars Red Monday.

Lake Norden/Badgers’s Cristhian Rodriguez struck out five batters in three innings pitched, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks to earn the victory on the mound. 

Platte/Geddes’ Parker Bailey, Groton’s Colby Dunker, Gregory’s Sawyer Tietgen, Big Stone City’s Dru Boots, and Elk Point/Jefferson’s Kayden Moore each drove in a run on one hit, including a double by Dunker. 

Gregory’s Gannon Thomas drove in a run on two hits, including a double, Platte/Geddes’ Tanner Dyk tallied two hits, including a double, while Salem/Montrose/Canova’s Jackson Remmers, Madison’s Lucas Mork, and Dell Rapids Suttin Williams and CJ Smith each tallied hits in the win.

For Team Red, Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney’s Evan Bultsma took the loss allowing four runs on five hits in three innings, striking out three.

Rapid City Hardhats’ Hayden Holec drove in two runs on two hits, including a double, Groton’s Bradin Althoff tallied two hits and two RBIs, including a double, Faulkton/Highmore’s Layne Cotton tallied a two-RBI double, while MVPCS’s Daniel Laufman, Big Stone City’s Isaiah Tandoh, and Gregory’s Kade Braun each tallied hits in the loss.


Legion All-Stars Black 20, Legion All-Stars Red 7

CANOVA — The Legion All-Stars Black pounded out 17 hits en route to a win over the Legion All-Stars Red on Monday. 

Elk Point/Jefferson’s Kayden Moore and Dell Rapids’ C.J. Smith had two hits and three RBI apiece for Team Black. Dell Rapids’ Sutton Williams had two hits and drove in two runs. Lake Norden/Badger’s Cristhian Rodriguez, Chamberlain’s Sawyer Donovan and Platte/Geddes’ Parker Bailey both drove in two runs apiece. Groton’s Colby Dunker and Gregory’s Gannon Thomas had two hits apiece. Madison’s Lucas Mork and Big Stone City’s Dru Boots each had a hit. 

Moore earned the win, allowing three hits, one earned run, one walk and struck out two batters in three innings.

For Team Red, Mount Vernon/Plankinton/Corsica-Stickney’s Daniel Laufman finished with three hits. Groton’s Bradin Althoff, Platte-Geddes’ Caden Oberbroekling, Dell Rapids’ Treyse Eastman, Groton’s Dillon Abeln and Faulkton’s Layne Cotton each had hits and drove in runs. Salem/Montrose/Canova’s Owen Alley had a hit and Redfield Kevin Weller drove in a run.

Rapid City Post 22’s Lee Neugebauer took the loss, allowing two hits, one earned run, one walk and struck out one batter in two innings.
