PARKSTON — Vermillion’s Gage Beverly and Dakota Valley’s Alex McCullough won titles at the Region 3A cross-country meet Friday at the Parkston Country Club.

McCullough ran the 5,000-meter race in 18:42.22 to take first place, ahead of Lennox’s Adie McVey (18:58.31) and Vermillion’s Callie Radigan (19:01.75). Lennox’s Sophia Johnson and Vermillion’s Eleanor Anderson came in fourth and fifth place to round out the top-5 leaders.

Beverly sealed the boys race with a time of 16:47.30, just ahead of Dakota Valley’s Jamison Gould (16:50.52) in second. Vermillion’s Sam Sorensen came in third place holding a time of 17:18.33, while Lennox’s Isaak Booker (17:18.47) and Elk Point-Jefferson’s Mason Marx (17:19.26) finished out the top-5 individually.

The Lennox girls won the team title with 42 points, clipping Canton (44) and Vermillion (52), while the Lennox boys took home first with 34 points, beating out Vermillion (37) and EPJ (41) for the boys team title.
