BRANDON — It was a good day to be a Watertown Arrow golfer.

Jake Olson captured the Class AA state boys golf individual championship, while the Arrows won their first state title since 1971 on Tuesday at Brandon Golf Course.

Watertown earned the team championship with a 578, pulling away from O’Gorman (583) for the title. Pierre (600), Harrisburg (602) and Mitchell (617) rounded out the top-five teams.

Olson, a senior, captured his second state championship with a 7-under-par 135. Olson won the Class AA state tournament as a sophomore in 2021 and placed second in 2022.

On Tuesday, Olson carded a 66 to finish six shots ahead of second-place Taten Mauney (141) of O’Gorman.

Olson’s round was boosted by an eagle on No. 1, followed by three birdies on the front nine and a 32 on the front nine. He added a 34 on the back nine to help secure the win.

After Mauney’s 141, Watertown’s Kaden Rylance (144) bolstered the Arrows’ title run with a third-place finish. Brandon Valley’s Carter Peterson placed fourth, while O’Gorman’s Jayden Antonen and Mac Drake and Mitchell’s Asher Dannenbring shot 147s to tie for fifth place.

Pierre’s Nicklaus Bothun and Harrisburg’s Hayden Scott shot 148s to finish tied for eighth place. Pierre’s Luke Olson (149) placed 10th.
