With wrestling season moving into the final six weeks of the season, the Tea Area Titans are hanging with the big boys of Class A wrestling. 

The Titans are tied with Class A power Pierre in this week’s Dakota Grappler Wrestling Rankings for fifth place.

Sturgis garnered 160 points this week, ahead of Rapid City Stevens (131) and Brandon Valley (124). Watertown (120) along with Pierre (118) and Tea Area (118) round out the top-five teams this week. 

Keep an eye on the 126 weight class as state approaches. Current No. 1 Rayden Zens (Aberdeen Central) beat three-time state champion Sloan Johannsen (Watertown), 6-5 in the finals of the Bismarck Rotary Tournament on Jan. 6. Brandon Valley’s Trevon Oehme, a 2023 state champion, is ranked No. 3 in a very tough weight class. 

Big Events this week: Madison hosts the DAK-XII tournament on Saturday and Pierre hosts the East-West Duals on Saturday.
