The Pierre girls easily won Friday’s Governor Invitational finishing with 173 points, ahead of Rapid City Stevens (96) and Spearfish (89).

The Governors remain on top of the Week 8 girls wrestling poll with a projected state tournament total of 176 points, ahead of Canton (116) and Spearfish (87). Rapid City Stevens (75) and Harrisburg (69) round out this week’s top-five rankings, which are released each week by dakotagrappler.com.

There are two new top-ranked wrestlers this week as Spearfish’s Maraia Kruske (106 pounds) takes over the No. 1 ranking after defeating former No. 1 Mary-Katherine Joseph, of Brandon Valley, 7-2 in the finals of that Governor Invitational. Flandreau’s Jayden Lange (142) takes over the No. 1 ranking in a weight class that saw a lot of movement this week.

Webster Area’s Jocelyn Rumpca (113) jumped into the honorable mention category after being unranked last week. Teammate Brooke Grajczyk (132) is now ranked No. 8 after being unranked a week ago. Also breaking into the rankings this week was Hot Springs’ Sarah Rickenbach (142) after being unranked a week ago.
