MISSION — Needing big points in the 1,600-meter relay, the Winner boys came through in a big way.
Jackson Bachmann, Karson Keiser, Austin Blare and Kellen Brozik teamed up to win the 1,600-meter relay (3:30.46) that helped secure the Big Dakota Conference title for the Warriors.
Winner scored 143 points, just ahead of Todd County (138) and Chamberlain (104). Cheyenne-Eagle Butte (76) and Stanley County (67) rounded out the top five teams.
The Chamberlain girls scored 209 points, ahead of Mobridge-Pollock (105.5) and Todd County (78). Miller (70.5) and Winner (69) rounded out the top five teams.
The Winner boys also won the 3,200-meter relay (8:37.08) and the sprint medley relay (3:57.04). The Warriors dominated the throws with Shawn Hammerbeck winning the shot put (44-11.50) and Jaxon Day the discus (150-07.50).
Todd County senior Ty Valandra won the 100-meter dash (:11.45), 200-meter dash (:23.92), long jump (19-05) and anchored the 400–meter relay to a win (:45.62).
Miller’s Isaak Hunter won the 110-meter hurdles (:42.53) and 300-meter hurdles (:42.53).
Cheyenne Eagle-Butte’s Jayden Taken Alive won the 400-meter dash (:53.53) and 1,600-meter run (4:58.19).
Chamberlain’s path to the Big Dakota Conference girls title came from their distance crew. Kylah Biggins won the 800-meter run (2:33.98) while Grace Phillips won the 1,600-meter run (5:39.83) and the 3,200-meter run (11:58.63).
The Cubs won the 3,200-meter run (10:44.00) and the sprint medley relay (5:00.01).
Senior Brittni Hickey won the 300-meter hurdles(1:00.12). The Cubs 800-meter relay team (Shea Carpenter, Nicole Schmiedt, Alexandra Schmiedt and Evelyn Bunker also won.
Winner’s Keelie Kuil won the 100-meter dash (:13.08), 400-meter dash (1:01.08) and anchored the 400-meter relay to a win (:51.31).
Mobridge-Pollock won the 100-meter hurdles (:19.26) and Kate Lichty won the triple jump (30-09.50).
