Avon boys, Burke girls capture titles at Fort Randall track and field meet

AVON — The Burke girls and Avon boys claimed team titles at Tuesday’s Fort Randall track and field meet. 

The Burke girls recorded 188 points, finishing ahead of Avon (108) and Corsica-Stickney (78). The Avon boys posted 137 points, finishing ahead of Corsica-Stickney (91) and Andes Central/Dakota Christian (79). 

In boys action, Avon’s Aziah Meyer won the long jump (20-0.25) and placed second in the 200-meter dash (:11.89). Meyer, Easton Sees, Grayson Ratzlaff and John Fathke won the 800-meter relay (1:36.23). The same quartet won the sprint medley relay (3:53.97). 

Avon’s Al Gunter won the shot put (47-3.5), discus (143-10) and placed third in the javelin (127-10). 

Avon’s Jacob Sassaman won the 3,200-meter run (13:37.51). Jamisen Pelton won the triple jump (40-5) for the Pirates. 

Corsica-Stickney’s Reed Woerner won the 1,600-meter run (5:43.03). Corsica-Stickney’s Bryce Wieczorek won the 110-meter hurdles (:19.13) and placed third in the 300-meter hurdles (:49.62). 

Corsica-Stickney’s Aiden Clites won the 300-meter hurdles (:48.09). Corsica-Stickney’s Tate Tolsma won the javelin (155-5). 

Andes Central/Dakota Christian’s Sabas DeHaan won the 200-meter dash (:23.14) and 400-meter dash (:51.01). 

Bridgewater-Emery’s Holden Wollmann won the 800-meter run (2:03.39), finished second in the 400-meter dash (:51.08) and placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (:12.17).

Bridgewater-Emery’s Parker Burke won the 100-meter dash (:11.77), finished second in the 200-meter dash (:23.14) and placed third in the 400-meter dash (:54.94). 

Burke’s Cason Wendell, Elijah Bartling, Kaleb Schonebaum and Gentry Bartling won the 400-meter relay (:46.33). Gentry Bartling, Schonebaum, Masen Hausmann and Elijah Bartling won the 1,600-meter relay (3:43.10). 

Elijah Bartling won the high jump (5-5). 

Tripp-Delmont/Armour’s Andrew Bitterman, Daxton Goehring, Daylin Kok and Grant Wunder won the 3,200-meter relay (9:14.04). 

In girls action, Burke’s Breckynn Pistulka won the 100-meter dash in :13.10 seconds, edging teammate Braelyn Duerfeldt (:13.69). Pistulka added a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash (1:02.34). 

Burke’s Sophia Bauld won the 800-meter run (2:27.53). Burke’s Daytona Paris won the 100-meter hurdles in :18.24, ahead of teammate Emmie Hausmann (:19.30). Paris added a first-place finish in the triple jump (31-11.75). 

Duerfeldt, Emily Diekmann, Pistulka and Addi Hood won the 800-meter relay (1:50.28). Hood, Brylie Pistulka, Emmy Spencer and Bauld won the 1,600-meter relay (4:29.18). Pistulka, Taylor Zeisler, Spencer and Kailee Frank won the 3,200-meter relay (11:24.90). 

Haley Baas, Kashe Skalla, Pistulka and Frank won the sprint medley relay (4:41.73). 

Burke’s Paige Bull won the shot put (38-0) and discus (143-5). Burke’s Trystan Johnson won the high jump at 4-9, ahead of Spencer (4-7). Johnson added a first-place finish in the long jump (14-11.5) 

Andes Central/Dakota Christian’s Josie Brouwer won the 200-meter dash (:26.80) and 300-meter hurdles (:47.56). Corsica-Stickney’s Braylee Bordewyk won the 400-meter dash (1:00.75) and placed third in the high jump (4-5). Bordewyk, Paige Timmermans, Brooke Reimnitz and Hadynn Johnson won the 400-meter relay (:53.59). 

Tripp-Delmont/Armour’s Jordan Cheesmore won the 1,600-meter run (6:16.68) and 3,200-meter run (14:50.32). 

Avon’s Rilyn Thury won the javelin (106-3).
