Sturgis boys, Spearfish girls capture team titles at Black Hills Conference track and field meet

BELLE FOURCHE — The Sturgis boys and Spearfish girls claimed team titles at Tuesday’s Black Hills Conference track and field meet. 

The Sturgis boys racked up 241.5 points, finishing ahead of Spearfish (118.5) and Custer (103). The Spearfish girls recorded 203 points, finishing ahead of Sturgis (161) and Custer (95). 

In boys action, Sturgis’ Ty Petrocco won the 1,600-meter run (4:27.99) and placed third in the 800-meter run (2:00.34). 

Sturgis’ Carson Wolter, Burton, Mason Venjohn and Cole Litzen won the 400-meter relay (:44.11). Ephraim Brant, Burton, Venjohn and Litzen won the 800-meter relay (1:31.73). Jude Legner, Teigen Wormstadt, Wolter and Ferguson won the 1,600-meter relay (3:26.18). 

Wolter added a first-place finish in the triple jump (41-7.75) and fourth-place finish in the long jump (21-0.5). 

Sturgis’ Jayden Ludwick won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.48) and 300-meter hurdles (:40.61).

Sturgis’ Seth Burton won the 200-meter dash (:22.52). Sturgis’ Ty Ferguson won the 400-meter dash (:51.06). 

Hill City’s Dax Frandsen won the 800-meter run (1:59.19). Hill City’s Tate Grabow won the 3,200-meter run (9:44.47). 

Spearfish’s Thomas Hughes won the 100-meter dash (:11.20) and high jump (6-3). Spearfish's Sam Marcus won the discus (144-8). 

Custer’s Austin Drew, Tyler Cooper, Sean Shipp and Peyton Krueger won the 3,200-meter relay (8:39.05). 

Rapid City Christian’s Elijah Compton, Wes Schlabach, Ezra Wildeman and Jaydin Borden won the sprint medley relay (3:48.68). 

St. Thomas More’s Maxon Speed won the shot put (48-7.5) and finished second in the javelin (158-10). 

Custer’s Roland Sedlacek won the javelin (165-10). Custer’s Kincade Lehman won the long jump (23-8.5) and placed second in the 100-meter dash (:11.24). 

Lead-Deadwood’s Cruz Mollman won the pole vault (13-6). 

In girls action, Spearfish’s Peyton VanDeest won the 800-meter run (2:14.89), 1,600-meter run (4:59.83) and 3,200-meter run (11:19.80). Spearfish’s Sevana Thompson, Taylor Burry, Marley Mosset and Daniela Rodriguez won the 800-meter relay (1:47.80). 

Spearfish’s Taylor Vitto won the javelin (104-3). 

Makita Raysor, Sierra Sandford, Auna Taglioli and Rodriguez won the 1,600-meter relay (4:06.08). Gabrielle Ranek, Burry, Mosset and Kori Keil won the sprint medley relay (4:20.31). 

Sturgis’ Avery Marler won the 100-meter dash (:12.17), 200-meter dash (:24.89), 400-meter dash (:56.79) and long jump (17-3.5). Lucy Hamer, Paige Willnerd, Iris Zylstra and Keelin Dinkins won the 3,200-meter relay (10:05.05) for Sturgis. 

Sturgis’ Kynlee Brown won the triple jump (34-10) and placed second in the long jump (16-9.5). 

Custer’s Jayda Bennett won the 100-meter hurdles (:15.34). Custer’s Karyn Ellerton won the discus (129-9) and placed fifth in the shot put (32-9.75). Custer’s Kelsey Stiefel won the pole vault (12-5). 

Rapid City Christian’s Kayla Dilka won the shot put (39-9.5), placed fourth in the discus (113-3) and finished fifth in the shot put (93-2). 

Belle Fourche’s Kailey Nowowiejski, Ansley O’Brien, Mikka Dunavant and Mya Nowowiejski won the 400-meter relay (:51.25). 

Hill City’s Lillie Ham won the high jump (5-3). Hill City’s Andee Frandsen won the 300-meter hurdles (:46.72).
