ABERDEEN — Another Burckhard is headed to Brookings.

Aberdeen Central High School sophomore Lauryn Burckhard committed to the South Dakota State University women’s basketball team on Oct. 10. She tweeted her intentions “I can’t wait to be a Jackrabbit #committed #gojacks

A 6-foot-1 sophomore, Burckhard is the younger sister of former SDSU women’s basketball player Paiton Burckhard, who was an all-conference player for the Jackrabbits. Lauryn Burckhard also had a scholarship offer from the University of South Dakota.

The Burckhard’s parents — Kevin Burckhard and Chris (Swanhorst) Burckhard — were outstanding college basketball players at Northern State University.
