Alpena's Londyn Mikkelson moves to second place at NJHFR in the All-Around Rookie Cowgirl standings with strong goat tying run

DES MOINES, Iowa — As the National Junior High Finals Rodeo moves to the short go-round Saturday afternoon, Alpena’s Londyn Mikkelson is second in the All-Around Rookie Cowgirl standings. 

Mikkelson moved up in the All-Around Standings after a third-place performance in the goat tying (8.96) seconds. Mikkelson has accumulated 275 points and trails only Minnesota’s Lenna Peterson who has 310 points. Mikkelson is currently sixth in the goat tying standings while Newell’s LuKayzee Brink leads the goat tying heading into the short go-round. 

Another bright moment for South Dakota came Friday when Buffalo’s Tyrel Koan won his performance in the bull riding with a score of 67. 

The South Dakota girls continue to be third in the team standings with 1,135 points. The South Dakota boys are currently in tenth place.
