WATERTOWN — Mark Kathol tossed seven strong innings to limit Rapid City Post 320 during Friday’s elimination game.

Kathol allowed one run on six hits in seven innings of work, striking out three in the win. Tate Beste drove in two runs on a hit and two walks, Evan Serck had two hits and a walk, Matthew Sheldon recorded an RBI on a walk while Gavin Johnson added an RBI on a hit and a walk in the win.

For Post 320, Alijah Ballard took the loss, allowing five runs on one hit and five walks in 2.1 innings, striking out three. Colton Mehlhaff had two hits and an RBI, Noah Wald added two hits while Jonah Blake and Tegan Sayles each recorded a hit in the loss.

Yankton will face Harrisburg Gold in the state championship Saturday at 1 p.m.


Harrisburg Gold 7, Rapid City Post 22 3

WATERTOWN — A seven-run inning was the difference as Harrisburg Gold eliminated Rapid City Post 22 from the state tournament Friday.

Ethan Beek had three hits and an RBI for Harrisburg, Taten Munce recorded two RBIs on two hits, Noah Boschee collected two RBIs on one hit, while Eli Kokenge recorded a double, walk, and an RBI in the win. Rylan Boe took the win on the mound in a complete game effort, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk, striking out four.

For Post 22, Broeden Sales took the loss allowing seven runs on six hits and three walks in 1.2 innings, striking out two. Blayn Hunt drove in a run on a double, Dawson Inhofer collected an RBI on a walk, while Aiden Roberts, Lars Kieffer, Wyatt Reeder and Jace Morgan each had a hit in the loss.

Harrisburg will face Yankton in the state championship at 1 p.m. Saturday.
