Brookings Cubs 3, Renner Monarchs 0

MITCHELL — The Brookings Cubs held off the Renner Monarchs for a win at the Class A amateur baseball tournament on Saturday at Cadwell Park. Brookings advances to the Class A  championship to face the Sioux Falls Squirrels at noon on Sunday.

Craig Lasley picked up the win for Brookings on the mound, pitching nine innings while allowing five hits and zero runs and striking out four.

Jeff Fish and JaColby Anderson led Brookings with two hits, while Tyler Kreutner, Jared Tschetter, Sam McMacken, Austin Koenig, Evan Miller, and Jackson Krogman each added one hit. Tschetter, McMacken, and Miller each had one RBI.

Ryan Hander took the loss for Renner, surrendering seven hits and two runs in six innings, while striking out eight.

Ben Ihrke led Renner at the plate, going 2-for-4. Ryan Hamilton and Jaxon Haase added one hit apiece.

Brookings Cubs 3, Black Hills A’s 1

MITCHELL — The Brookings Cubs outlasted the Black Hills A’s for a win at the Class A amateur baseball tournament on Saturday at Cadwell Park.

Nathan Lease took the win for Brookings, allowing eight hits and one run in 8 â…“ innings, while striking out two. Tyler Kreutner and Chase McDaniel led Brookings with two hits and one RBI apiece.

Dylan Gillespie, took the loss for the Black Hills A’s, giving up three runs on seven hits and striking out four in eight innings. Gillespie also led the A’s with three hits in five at bats, while Matt Hill and Dawson Penticoff each added two hits. Adam Deneke drove in one run.
