Platte-Geddes 2, Hanson 0

ALEXANDRIA — Platte-Geddes swept Hanson in the championship match of the Hanson Early Bird tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 25-21 and 25-10.

Platte-Geddes’ Karly VanDerWerff logged eight kills, five digs and two blocks. Avery DeVries finished with 11 assists, three digs and two aces. Cadence VanZee added seven digs and two kills. Baleigh Nachtigal logged six digs and Hadley Hanson posted nine digs. 

Hanson’s Annalyse Weber logged six kills and eight digs. Kylie Haiar finished with nine digs and two kills. Jalyn Kampshoff posted 10 assists, while Jersey Kampshoff added 12 digs. 


Avon 2, Andes Central/Dakota Christian 0

ALEXANDRIA — Avon defeated Andes Central/Dakota Christian to earn third place at the Hanson Early Bird tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 25-22 and 25-16.

Avon’s Courtney Sees finished with seven kills, 11 digs and two aces. McKenna Kocmich logged 14 assists and three digs. Grace Vanderlei posted 10 digs and three kills. Lila Vanderlei logged 10 digs and Sarah Swier posted seven digs. Kim Tolsma finished with five digs and two kills. 

ACDC’s Josie Brouwer posted four kills, four assists and two digs. Mahpiya Irving logged seven assists and six digs. Syrianna Never Misses A Shot finished with 10 digs. Nevaeh Morgan added eight digs, two kills and two assists. 


Freeman 2, Wessington Springs 1

ALEXANDRIA — Freeman outlasted Wessington Springs to earn fifth place at the Hanson Early Bird tournament on Thursday. The set scores were 25-22, 22-25 and 25-19.

Freeman’s Kate Miller finished with 10 kills, 18 digs, three aces and two blocks. Erin Uecker added nine kills and 19 digs. Ava Anderson finished with 12 assists, seven digs and three aces. Cami Fransen logged 12 assists, nine digs and two aces. 

Wessington Springs’ Avery Orth logged nine kills, 14 digs, six blocks and two assists. Mariah Messmer finished with 15 assists and 10 digs. Carissa Scheel logged four kills and 10 digs. Raylee Fagerhaug finished with 12 digs and three kills. 


Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 2, Freeman Academy/Marion 0

ALEXANDRIA — Sanborn Central/Woonsocket swept Freeman Academy/Marion to earn seventh place at the Hanson Early Bird tourney on Thursday. The set scores were 25-17 and 25-19.

SCW’s Kenna Ochsner finished with seven kills, six digs and two blocks. Kenlie Fridley logged eight assists, while Belle Fry added five digs. Kam Ochnser and Kailynn Eggleston had four and three kills, respectively.

FAM’s Leah Goodwin finished with three kills and two blocks. Alivea Weber posted four digs and two aces.

Northwestern 3, Wolsey-Wessington 2

MELLETTE — Class B No. 4 Northwestern outlasted Class B No. 5 Wolsey-Wessington in five sets in high school volleyball action on Thursday. The set scores were 25-20, 19-25, 9-25, 25-17, and 15-9.

Northwestern’s Ella Haven tallied 26 kills and two aces. Ashley Haven finished with 13 kills and 13 digs, while Brooklinn Halvorson recorded 42 assists and seven kills. Ella Boekelheide and Payton Grandpre added 19 and 15 digs, respectively.

Wolsey-Wessington’s Mya Boomsma finished with 13 kills and 26 digs. Leah Williams and Lainey Uttecht also had 26 digs apiece, while Williams also tallied nine kills and two aces. Taylor Horn had 26 assists, while Payton Kemnitz added 13 assists. Emree White led with five aces, while Mallory Miller added 10 kills and four blocks. 


Wilmot 3, Waverly-South Shore 0

WILMOT — Wilmot swept Waverly-South Shore for a high school volleyball win on Thursday.

Wilmot’s Jada Cameron finished with 23 digs, while Kayla Hamman tallied seven digs and 21 blocks. Ashlyn Ebben and Paige Johnson each added five digs, while Ebben had four blocks.

Waverly-South Shore’s Sophie Dalton had five kills, while Sidney Stricherz tallied two kills and six digs. Emily Heuer and Capri Schroeder each had two aces, while Schroeder and Bridget Eschen recorded five digs each. Kaelyn Williams added four digs. 


Chester Area 3, Ethan 0

CHESTER — Class B No. 3 Chester Area swept Ethan in straight sets in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-14, 25-3 and 25-11.

Chester Area’s Serena Larson and Addison Bates finished with nine kills apiece. Lily VanHal logged 22 assists and four aces. Jacy Wolf logged 11 assists and two blocks. Kaylor Geraets and Emery Larson posted seven digs apiece. 

Ethan’s Ava Lingemann finished with four kills and one ace. Claire Mellegard finished with two kills and eight digs. Aubrie Biteler finished with seven assists and Marissa Storm added eight digs. 


Centerville 3, Menno 1

MENNO — Centerville picked up a high school volleyball win over Menno on Thursday. The set scores were 25-22, 25-20, 22-25, and 26-24.

Lillie Eide led Centerville with 28 digs, while Bailey Hansen recorded 22 digs, five kills, four assists, and three aces. Thea Gust tallied 10 kills and four digs, while Mackenzie Meyer finished with 13 digs. Macey Hostetler added 19 assists and six digs.

Menno’s Josephine Stokes and Ashton Massey each recorded six kills. Julia Buechler led with 18 digs, four kills, and four aces, while Madelyn Kludt had 15 digs. Alana Fergen tallied 13 digs and six assists, while Maggie Miller and Allison Lehr added 11 digs apiece.


Burke 3, Colome 0

BURKE — Burke swept Colome in a high school volleyball game on Thursday. The set scores were 25-14, 25-13, and 25-7.

Burke’s Adisyn Indahl recorded 11 kills, 10 digs, and five aces. Kailee Frank tallied 10 kills, eight digs, and two aces, while Emmie Hausmann added five kills. Elle Johnson finished with 19 digs and two aces, while Elly Witt and Ava Sargent added 13 and seven assists, respectively.

Colome’s Landi Krumpus and Ashlyn Hoffine each had nine digs, while Toree Ringing Shield and Jordyn Ring tallied two kills apiece. Devan Dougherty had two aces.  


Arlington 3, Iroquois/Lake Preston 0

ARLINGTON — Arlington swept Iroquois/Lake Preston in straight sets for a high school volleyball win on Thursday. The set scores were 25-21, 25-20, and 25-13.

Arlington’s Morgan Larsen and Harley Johnson had 10 kills and two aces apiece, while Larsen recorded 12 digs. Addie Steffensen tallied nine kills and two blocks, while Tanaya Weiss added 33 assists.

Iroquois/Lake Preston’s Ava Malone tallied five kills and 17 digs, while Faith Steffenson had four kills and three blocks. Becca Bich recorded seven assists and three aces, while Addison Moore had 20 digs. Hadlee Holt added four kills.


Mount Vernon/Plankinton 3, Parker 0

PARKER — Mount Vernon/Plankinton swept Parker for a high school volleyball win on Thursday. The set scores were 25-9, 25-19, and 25-13.

MVP’s Reagan Rus led with 14 kills and 17 digs, while Vanessa Hoffman added five kills, 17 assists, and three aces. Clara Fink had five kills and Cally Faulhaber added two blocks.

Parker’s Halle Berens led with six kills and 34 digs. Aspen Rand tallied 18 digs, while Hailey Phillips and Alyssa Schulte recorded 15 digs apiece. Jenna VanVelzen had 13 digs, while Terryn Fuller stuffed the stat sheet with two kills, three blocks, 10 assists, and five digs.


Miller 3, Winner 0

MILLER — Miller swept Winner in straight sets for a high school volleyball win on Thursday. The set scores were 25-10, 25-9, and 25-21.

Miller’s Jaden Werdel tallied 11 kills and five digs, while Ally Mullaney had nine kills and two aces. Jolie Palmer recorded 21 digs and two aces, while Tyra Gates logged 33 assists and two aces. Abbi Blake and Ruby Carder added seven and six kills, respectively. Mackenzie Kopecky and Journey Palmer added five digs apiece.

Winner’s Lexi Klein, Keelie Kuil and Lilly Barfuss finished with three kills apiece. Klein added six assists, while Aleya Miller finished with 19 digs. Kelbi Meiners added 11 digs and Karlee Brozik had a block. 


Wagner 3, Vermillion 0

WAGNER — Class A No. 3 Wagner swept Vermillion for a high school volleyball win on Thursday. The set scores were 25-14, 25-13, and 25-15.

Wagner’s Avari Bruguier led with 10 kills. Emma Yost, Shona Kocer, and Shalayne Nagel each recorded seven kills, while Yost added 16 digs. Macy Koupal tallied 27 assists and 10 digs.

For Vermillion, Annika Barnett led with 15 kills and nine digs, while Kelsey O’Neill also recorded nine digs. Brooke Jensen tallied eight blocks and four aces, while Claire Doty logged 53 assists and five blocks. Brooklyn Voss added eight kills.


Ipswich 3, Highmore-Harrold 0 

HIGHMORE — Ipswich swept Highmore-Harrold in straight sets to earn a Thursday high school volleyball win. The set scores were 25-15, 25-20 and 25-20.

Ipswich’s Gracie Lange finished with 12 kills and 11 digs, while Baylee Kulesa added 10 kills and four aces. Madison Geditz logged 19 digs, while Quincy Olivier added 21 assists. Vanessa Diaz posted four aces. 

Highmore-Harrold’s Kendall Cermak finished with three kills, while Kaelin Faulstich had two aces and two kills. Brooklyn Baloun added seven assists. Kenidey Effling had 13 digs.  


Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 3, Howard 1

HOWARD — Oldham-Ramona/Rutland picked up a 3-1 over Howard to earn a Thursday high school volleyball win. The set scores were 21-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-23.

ORR’s Julia Trystad finished with 17 kills, 25 digs and four blocks. Bailey Hyland added nine kills, while Alivia Bickett added 28 digs and two aces. Paige Hanson added two aces and 16 assists, while Camlin Schneider had three blocks. Brooklyn Hageman added 15 assists. 

Howard’s Abby Aslesen finished with 14 kills and three blocks. Rylee Rudebusch posted 23 assists and two aces. Tana Hoyer finished with 11 assists. Kate Connor finished with 11 kills and seven blocks. Canyon Kidd and Marina Kollmann finished with 14 digs and 10 digs, respectively. 


Redfield 3, Aberdeen Roncalli 1

ABERDEEN — Redfield took down Aberdeen Roncalli in four sets to earn a Thursday high school volleyball win. The set scores were 25-16, 23-25, 25-22 and 25-20.

Camryn Rohlfs finished with 26 assists, 18 digs and two aces. Gracie Fast added 13 kills, while Katie Rozell logged nine kills. Ashlyn Clausen finished with two aces. Chloe Zens added 20 digs and Mallory Smith had two blocks. 

Roncalli’s Ella Hanson finished with 14 kills, while Ava Hanson added four kills and one block. Maddie Huber finished with 14 assists, while Camryn Bain logged two aces and 27 digs. McKenna O’Keefe added 21 digs. 


Faulkton Area 3, Sunshine Bible Academy 0

MILLER — Faulkton Area picked up a three-set win over Sunshine Bible Academy to earn a Thursday high school volleyball win. The set scores were 25-11, 25-9 and 25-13.

Faulkton Area’s Addison Melius and Kelli Stoecker finished with eight kills apiece. Ashly Senn logged seven kills. Trisha Cramer and Gabby Karst had two aces apiece, while Kast logged 26 assists. Carley Cotton finished with six digs. 

SBA’s Anna VanZee, Abby Hinman and Sadie Konechne had one kill apiece. Betra Amare finished with two assists, four digs and one ace. Kennedy Keck finished with five digs. 


Dell Rapids 3, West Central 0

HARTFORD — Dell Rapids swept West Central in Thursday high school volleyball action. The set scores were 25-22, 25-14 and 25-19.

West Central’s Aubree Miller and Josie Dinges recorded three kills apiece, while Miller added a block. Maria Peterson had three aces and Ellie Lienhard logged seven assists.

Dell Rapids stats were not reported. 


Madison 3, Flandreau 2

FLANDREAU — Madison outlasted Flandreau in a five-set marathon match on Thursday. The set scores were 25-23, 25-15, 22-25, 14-25 and 20-18.

Madison’s Amanda Vacanti and Karley Theede finished with 19 assists and three aces apiece. Vacanti added eight kills and two blocks. Audrey Nelson recorded 19 kills and six blocks. Maycee Theede and Cadence Zens logged 18 and 10 digs, respectively.

Flandreau’s Claire Sheppard finished with 17 kills, eight blocks and five aces. Lizzie Pavlis added 15 kills and six blocks. Abby Schoberl logged 40 assists. Lily Klein finished with seven aces and 21 digs. Sadie Iott added 22 digs. 


Hamlin 3, Groton Area 1

HAYTI — Hamlin outlasted Groton Area for a high school volleyball win on Thursday. The set scores were 25-20, 20-25, 25-22, and 25-20.

Hamlin’s Kami Wadsworth stuffed the stat sheet with 47 assists, 18 digs, five aces, and three blocks. Ally Abraham tallied 17 kills, while Gracelyn Leiseth recorded 15 kills and three blocks. Ava Prouty led with 20 digs.

Groton Area’s Anna Fjeldheim had eight kills and two aces, while Carly Guthmiller had 26 digs and two aces. Liz Fliehs recorded 16 assists and eight digs, while Sydney Leicht tallied 18 digs, four kills, and four aces. Hollie Frost added four kills.
