Parkston 11, Groton 6

MILBANK — A five-run seventh-inning boosted Parkston to Tuesday’s state championship over Groton.

Carter Sommer led the Post 194 offense batting 3-for-5 with three RBIs, Kash Neugebauer added two RBIs on two hits and two walks, Taite Klumb recorded an RBI on a hit and a walk,  Mason Jervik drove in two runs while Kolter Kramer, Drew Braley and Jaxx Kurtenbach each tallied a hit and a walk in the win. Klumb took the victory on the mound in 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks, striking out seven.

For Groton, Korbin Kucker took the loss allowing two runs on one hit and two walks in one inning, striking out one. Teylor Diegel had three hits, Carter Simon recorded three RBIs on two hits, a homer and a walk, Braxton Imrie drove in a run on one hit, Brevin Fliehs had an RBI on a hit and two walks while Gavin Englund tallied two hits and a walk in the loss.

Parkston will play Dakota Valley at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.


Dakota Valley 14, Dell Rapids 8

MILBANK — Dakota Valley used a six-run fourth inning to power a Class B American Legion baseball win over Dell Rapids on Monday.

Dakota Valley’s Noah Graham, Sterling Schauff and Vincent Hoffman drove in two runs apiece. Grady Ramos and Jack Wiese had two hits and drove in a run apiece. Jake Pick and Tate Cornelsen each had hits, with Cornelsen driving in a run. Schauff earned the win, striking out four batters, allowing five hits, six earned runs and walking five batters in five innings. 

For Dell Rapids, Cole Ruesink had three hits, drove in three runs and hit a home run. Drake Eastman drove in two runs, while Jake Heinitz had two hits. Connor Hanson, Jackson Peppel and Lincoln Fersdahl each had hits. Hanson had an RBI. Ruesink allowed five hits, 10 earned runs, seven walks and struck out two batters in 2.2 innings. 

Dell Rapids will face the Parkston vs. Dakota Valley winner 60 minutes after the conclusion of the first game Tuesday.
