Aug. 1 State A Legion Baseball Roundup - Renner blanks Watertown in Thursday action

Renner Royals 10, Watertown 0 (5 innings)

BROOKINGS — Renner racked up 12 hits and blanked Watertown in Class A Legion tourney action on Thursday. Renner will play now in the Class A state championship. 

Kyle Konechne finished with two hits and drove in three runs. Zachary Dunham and Jacob Sanderson had two hits apiece, while Dunham drove in a run. Charlie Hueners knocked in two runs, while Sullivan Schlimgen and Hunter Den Boer drove in runs. Rylan Arbogast earned the win, striking out two batters, allowing six hits, zero runs and two walks in six innings.

For Watertown, Kaden Rylance had two hits. Nathan Berg took the loss, allowing four hits, three earned runs, three walks and struck out two batters in 1.2 innings. 


Brookings 3, Brandon Valley 0 

BROOKINGS — Brookings edged Brandon Valley in State A Legion tourney action on Thursday.

Tyson Antonen and Sam Johnson led Brookings with one hit apiece. Owen Schneider and Johnson both drove in runs. Zach Struck earned the win, striking out one batter, allowing three hits, four walks and zero runs in six innings. Schneider earned the save, striking out two batters, allowing zero hits and zero runs in one relief inning.

For Brandon Valley, Max Peters, Chase Leary and Bryton Stroh each collected a hit. Ryland Carroll took the loss, allowing two hits, three earned runs, five walks and struck out five batters in six innings. 


Renner Royals 1, Brookings 0

BROOKINGS — Brogan Moffit’s RBI-hit-by-pitch in the sixth inning was the difference as Renner defeated Brookings during the State A Legion Baseball tournament Thursday.

Kyle Konechne, Zachary Dunham, and Braylon Bear each had hits in the win for Renner.

Jackson Bjorkman earned the victory, throwing five shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out four.

For Brookings, Austin Clark took the loss giving up one run on three hits and four walks in six innings, while hitting two batters.

Jack Merritt and Tate Helmbolt each had two hits, while Owen Schneider had one hit in the loss for Brookings.


Harrisburg Gold 15, Rapid City Hardhats 5 (5 innings)

BROOKINGS — Teigan Munce drove in five runs as Harrisburg eliminated the Rapid City Hardhats from the State A Legion Tournament Thursday.

Munce batted 4-for-4 with a double, homer, and five RBIs, Eli Kokenge hit a three-run homer and drew two walks, Palmer Boyd and Maddux Scherer each had two hits and two RBIs, including two doubles by Boyd, while Jack Riley, Coen Cook, and Carter Gronseth each tallied a hit, walk, and an RBI in the win.

Braxton Kusler tossed all five innings for Harrisburg, allowing five runs on four hits and three walks, dishing seven strikeouts.

For Rapid City, Jadon Moreno allowed eight runs on five hits and a walk in 1.1 innings.

Hayden Holec, Alex Dietrich, and Jace Morgan each drove in a run on one hit, while Tate Crosswait tallied an RBI-hit-by-pitch in the loss.
