Dell Rapids PBR 5, Elkton Snappers 3

MITCHELL — Riley Hoffman struck out 11 batters in a first round state tournament victory over Elkton Saturday.

Hoffman went eight strong innings on the mound for Dell Rapids, allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk, striking out 11.

Weston Hansen batted 2-for-5 with two RBIs, Drew Sweeter tallied an RBI on two hits and a walk, including a triple, Nate McKee drove in a run, while Heith Williams of Madison, Conner Spindler, Riley Calhoon, and Brayden Pankonen each tallied hits in the win.

For Elkton, Eliezer Burgos took the loss allowing two runs on two hits in 2.2 innings, striking out three.

Dylan Gillespie tallied two hits and an RBI, Dave Bierman had two hits, Kellen Sattler drove in a run, while Brady Steffen, Logan Kuehl, and Charles Harming each tallied hits in the loss.

Dell Rapids PBR moves on to the second round and will face Milbank on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.


Milbank Firechiefs 5, Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks 2

MITCHELL — Dom Boerger struck out 15 batters as Milbank defeated the Hartford/Humboldt Gamecocks Saturday.

Boerger allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks in a complete game to earn the victory, striking out 15 batters.

Brady Krause tallied two RBIs on two hits, Mitch Quade batted 2-for-2 with a double and three walks, Merik Junker tallied three hits, Brent Griffith (Clark pick-up player) tallied two hits, a double, a walk, and an RBI, Kellen Hoeke and Taylor Boerger each tallied RBIs on a single, while Kaden Krause and Tyler Krause each had hits in the loss.

For H/H, Cole Barthel allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk in three innings pitched.

Cam Quigley tallied two hits, including a double, Jonah Rechtenbaugh had an RBI-double, while Broc Haldeman drove in a run on a single as well.

Milbank moves on to the second round and will face Dell Rapids PBR on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.


Mount Vernon Mustangs 4, Salem Cubs 3 

MITCHELL — Luke Tieseler went eight strong innings for Mount Vernon as it defeated Salem in the opening round of the State B tournament Saturday.

Tieseler allowed three runs on nine hits and four walks in eight innings to earn the victory on the mound.

Bradley Dean batted 3-for-4 with an RBI, Spencer Neugebauer tallied an RBI on two hits, Chase Hetland and Eric Giblin each drove in a run on one hit, while Walker Hultgren and Jonah Schmidt (Parkston Devil Ray pick-up player) each tallied hits in the win.

For Salem, Isaac Anderson allowed two runs on three hits and two walks in three innings.

Tyler Earls allowed a run on two hits, Cole Cheeseman tallied an RBI-single, Hakeem Yatim tallied two hits, including a double, while Jon Forster, Jacob Vonberge, and Kyle Braun each tallied hits in the loss.

Winner/Colome Pheasants 8, Chamberlain Mallards 0

MITCHELL — Connor Hopkins and Patrick Starr pitched a combined shutout as Winner/Colome defeated Chamberlain in state tournament action Saturday.

Hopkins allowed just three hits through the first 7.1 innings, striking out nine batters, while Starr allowed just two hits over the final 1.2 innings to take the victory.

Oscar Pravacek and Reed Harter each tallied three hits and an RBI, Dillon Lambley batted 2-for-3 with a walk, double, and two RBIs, Aiden Barfuss drove in a run on two hits, Chandler Bakely tallied two RBIs on a single, while Drew DeMers tallied a hit, two walks, and an RBI.

For Chamberlain, Dakota Munger allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks in 5.2 innings, striking out four.

Munger tallied two hits while Colden Eimers and Mike Schwartz each had a hit in the loss for Chamberlain.

Winner/Colome moves on to face Mount Vernon in the second round of the State B tournament on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Yankton Tappers 13, Black Hills A’s 6

BROOKINGS — Joe Gokie drove in three runs on three hits as Yankton eliminated the Black Hills A’s from State A tournament action Saturday.

Gokie batted 3-for-5 with a walk, homer and three RBIs, Drew Ryken tallied two hits, a double, and three RBIs, Will Rauch drove in two runs on two hits and a walk, Lucas Kampshoff tallied a hit, walk, and two RBIs, while Mitch Gullickson drove in a run on a double. Shugo Kondo batted 3-for-6 with a double in the win as well.

Gokie earned the victory on the mound in 6.2 shutout innings, allowing just five hits.

For Black Hills, Palmer Boyd took the loss allowing eight runs on eight hits and two walks in five innings, striking out six.

Adam Deneke drove in a run on two hits, including a double, Easton Ogle, Owen Cass, Daryl Deneke, and Seth Johnson each drove in a run on one hit, while Andrew Hill tallied two hits and two walks in the loss.


Sioux Falls Flying Squirrels 8, Sioux Falls Brewers 3

BROOKINGS — Trevor Hurley drove in three runs as the Flying Squirrels defeated the Brewers in State A tournament action Saturday.

Hurley batted 2-for-3 with a walk, double, and three RBIs, Dylan Ades and Carter Brown each drove in a run on one hit, Zach Dibble and Kyle Gulbrandson each tallied two hits, while Jack Simonsen drove in a run on a walk in the win as well.

Dexter Payne allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk in five innings, striking out three.

For the Brewers, Zach Whitesell allowed two runs on four hits and two walks in six innings, striking out six.

Sam Siegel, TJ Miller, James Borges, and Drue Soukup each tallied two hits in the loss, including doubles by Borges and Soukup.


Renner Monarchs 4, Brookings Cubs 1

BROOKINGS — Jeremiah Mauch struck out 14 batters as Renner defeated Brookings in State A tournament action Saturday.

Mauch pitched all nine innings for Renner, allowing one run on seven hits and two walks, striking out 14 along the way to earn the victory.

Adam Durfee tallied an RBI on two hits, including a double, Dave Borchardt tallied an RBI-single, Ben Ihrke had two hits, including a double, while Chaz Palmer tallied a hit in the loss.

For Brookings, Jake Ammann took the loss allowing three runs on four hits and four walks in seven innings, striking out seven.

Jackson Krogman tallied two hits, while Chase McDaniel, Noah Buss, Tyler Kreutner, Jamison Honkomp, and Justin Cofell tallied hits in the loss.

 

Aberdeen Circus 6, Rapid City Diamondbacks 2

BROOKINGS — Chad Ellingson tossed 13 strikeouts as Aberdeen Circus defeated Rapid City in State A tournament action Saturday.

Ellingson allowed two runs on eight hits and two walks in a complete game on the mound, striking out 13 to earn the victory.

Tyler Oliver tallied two hits, a walk, and an RBI, Casey Vining drove in a run on a hit and a walk, Easton Millar drove in two runs on a triple, while Colton Cox, Michael Babcock, Jon Baker, Ryan Ellingson, and Jesse Babcock each tallied hits in the win.

For Rapid City, Palmer Jacobs took the loss allowing six runs on nine hits and three walks in nine innings, striking out 12.

Harry Good drove in a run on two hits, a double, and a walk, Grayson Skinner drove in a run on a double, while Jed Sullivan, Walker Paz, Jesse Riddle, Alex Dietrich, and Hayden McGriff each tallied hits in the loss.
