Baltic boys win team, individual awards at Colman-Egan Invite

COLMAN — The Batlic boys cross-country team captured the team and individual titles at the Colman-Egan Invite on Wednesday.

Baltic finished with a team score of 18, ahead of Mount Vernon/Plankinton (27) and Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (30). Arlington (31) and McCrossan (40 rounded out the top-five.

Individually, Baltic’s John Gronewold won the title with a time of 17:12.21. Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s Jeff Boschee placed second with a time of 17:27.37, while Howard’s Caden Schwader took third place with a time of 17:28.20. Baltic’s Alex Langner (17:41.31) and Elkton-Lake Benton’s Nate Timm (17:50.18) rounded out the top-five finishers.

On the girls side, Arlington won the team title with a score of 10, ahead of Colman-Egan (24) and Baltic (28). Mount Vernon/Plankinton (33) and Dell Rapids St. Mary (41) rounded out the top-five.

Individually, Chester Area’s Emery Larson took home the title with a time of 18:06.29, ahead of Arlington’s Kaelyn Ulschmid (19:28.36). Colman-Egan’s Reese Luze finished third with a time of 20:07.20, while Deubrook Area’s Kylee Johnson (20:34.74) and Elkton-Lake Benton’s Malayna Hemmen (20:35.66) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
