The Sioux Falls O’Gorman girls lead the Class AA track and field competition with 80.50, well ahead of Sioux Falls Lincoln (37) and Brandon Valley (35) and Rapid City Stevens (35).

Alea Hardie set meet records in the 3,200 meter run (10:24.42) and the 800-meter run (2:09.64). The distance crew for O’Gorman did some serious damage Friday as Libby Castelli finished 2nd in the 800-meter run and 4th in the 3,200 meter run. Ruth Pardy was 6th in the 800-meter run and 7th in the 3,200 meter run. Avery Wittry won the Class AA discus (133-11) to score ten points for the Knights. 

Rapid City Central’s Matayah Yellow Mule defended her triple jump title (38-1.5). In the only other field event final Harrisburg’s Kaitlyn Disbrow became South Dakota’s first ever javelin state champion with a throw of 124-5. 

Brandon Valley looks to be in good position Saturday as their 800-meter relay team had the top qualifying time (1:44.18). Mia Wentzy and Meghan Walker both qualified for Saturday’s 400-meter dash final with Walker having the No. 2 qualifying time in the 200-meter dash (:26.04). 

Yankton’s Shea Ramsey had the top qualifying time in the 400-meter dash (:56.25) and the Bucks had the top qualifying time in the 1,600 meter relay (4:01.67).
