HOT SPRINGS — With four of the top-six golfers, St. Thomas More cruised to the Region 4A boys golf championship on Monday at Southern Hills Golf Course. 

The Cavaliers carded a 313, finishing well ahead of Hot Springs (355) and Custer (363). 

St. Thomas More’s Hayden Heig fired a 1-under 69, including a 34 on the back nine and a 35 on the front nine. Heig’s round included three birdies and one eagle. 

St. Thomas More’s Andrew Levin (76) and Rapid City Christian’s Vander Von Eye (79) finished second and third, respectively. St. Thomas More’s Braeden Strain (81) and Hot Springs’ Brock Schroeder (82) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

Aberdeen Roncalli runs away with Region 1A title

MADISON — Aberdeen Roncalli won by 20 strokes to take the Region 1A team golf title Monday at the Madison Golf and Country Club.

The Cavaliers scored a 325 as a team, 20 strokes ahead of Sioux Valley in second place (345), with Madison coming in third (347).

Individually, Milbank’s Jonathan DeBoer claimed the individual championship shooting a 76. Roncalli’s Lucas Dagget (77) finished second, SV’s Damon Eucker (78) took third place, while Roncalli’s Harper Schnabel (81) and Madison’s Braylon Oftedal tied for fourth place in the top-5 leaders Monday.

Vermillion wins Region 2A team golf title

VERMILLION — The Vermillion boys golf team ran away with the Region 2A boys golf championship Monday at The Bluffs Golf Course.

The Tanagers (290)  won by eight strokes, clipping Dakota Valley (298) and West Central (319) in the top-3 team scores. Tri-Valley and Sioux Falls Christian rounded out the top-5 with a tie at 340.

Individually, Dakota Valley’s Matt Debeer (70) clipped Vermillion’s Trey Hansen (71) for the individual title shooting two-under-par on the day, including four birdies in 18 holes. Hansen came in second place, shooting five birdies as well. Vermillion’s Cooper Girard and DV’s Atticus Slater tied for third shooting a 72, with Girard winning the tiebreaker. Vermillion’s Rylan Moran rounded out the top-5 scoring leaders with a 73 on the day.

Winner captures Region 3A golf title 

MITCHELL — Winner edged Parkston by one shot for the Region 3A boys golf championship on Monday at Lakeview Golf Course. 

The Warriors carded a 332, edging Parkston (333) for the team title. Chamberlain (337) and Mount Vernon/Plankinton (338) finished third and fourth, respectively. Parker/Marion (367) placed fifth. 

Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Trysten Eide and Landon Weber shot 75s to sit atop the individual leaderboard. Eide won the individual title with a birdie on the first playoff hole. 

Eide’s round included a 35 on the front nine, and he carded four birdies on the day. Weber’s round included a 37 on the back nine, and he recorded three birdies on the day. 

Winner’s Jalen Tideman (78) placed third. Chamberlain’s London Houska (80) and Winner’s Cooper Craven (80) rounded out the top-five golfers.
