SIOUX FALLS — The Brandon Valley boys and Harrisburg girls continue to hold top spots on the Class AA state track and field team standings after Day 2.

The Brandon Valley boys are ahead of the pack with 94 points, with Sioux Falls Lincoln (58) and Harrisburg (35) in second and third, respectively. The Harrisburg girls hold a narrow lead after Day 2 with 62 points, just ahead of Spearfish (53.5) and Rapid City Stevens (45).

Brandon Valley’s Mikah Peters spearheaded the scoring on Day 2, winning the 3,200-meter run (8:54.05) and the 800-meter run (1:52.37). Peters received the All-Class gold medal in both events as well.

The Lynx scored 16 points from the discus throw, with Jackson Witte taking first place (163-03) and Caelan Seeley finishing in third (159-08).

Ayuel Deng notched a third-place finish in the long jump (21-10.25) for an additional six points, while Asher Selness took eighth place in the 3,200-meter run (9:24.31) for the Lynx.

The Harrisburg girls scored 14 points in the 3,200-meter final with Brianna Reilly (10:22.46) and Hannah Genrich (10:50.79) finishing in second and third place, respectively.

Reilly also took second in the 800-meter run (2:11.77) for eight team points, while Bria Miller (2:13.76) and Taylor Syverson (2:16.60) finished in fifth and sixth place in the 800-meter run.

Aesia Aldridge took eighth place (16-09.25) in the long jump to score two team points for the Tigers while Jersy Tryon finished in sixth in the pole vault (11-09).
