Brandon Valley boys, Harrisburg girls lead Class AA state track and field standings after Day 1

SIOUX FALLS — The Brandon Valley boys and Harrisburg girls sit atop the Day 1 leaderboards at the state track and field meet on Thursday.

The Brandon Valley boys have 51 points, followed by Lincoln (36) and Washington (18). The Harrisburg girls have 29 points, followed by Brandon Valley (20), Rapid City Stevens (16) and Spearfish (16).

The Brandon Valley boys received 16 points in the pole vault: Uriah Dixon (second place), Maddox Moeller (third place) and Benjamin Alfinson (sixth place). 

Brandon Valley’s Isaac Kutey (third place) and Ayuel Deng (fifth place) added 10 points in the triple jump. Austin Dowd (second place) and Chayce Hartman (seventh place) scored 10 points in the javelin. 

Brandon Valley’s Camden Christion, Maddox Moeller, Caelen Christion and Mikah Peters won the sprint medley relay (3:28.14). Brandon Valley’s Asher Selness, Ethan Kyte, Quinntin Mischke and Marcus Munsch placed fourth in the 3,200-meter relay (8:10.70). 

Harrisburg’s Aesia Aldridge won the triple jump (38-1.25) for 10 points. Harrisburg’s Bria Miller, Taylor Syverson, Hannah Genrich and Brianna Reilly won the 3,200-meter relay (9:18.50). 

Harrisburg’s Lily Churchill, Olivia Karst, Francesca Barnett and Bria Miller placed third in the sprint medley relay (4:12.56). Harrisburg’s Autumn Bryant placed sixth in the shot put (37-7.75) for three points.
