Brandon Valley High School’s Hudson Parliament has been selected as the 2025-26 Gatorade South Dakota Football Player of the Year.

Gatorade Player of the Year is the top honor in high school sports, celebrating the nation’s best high school athletes for their excellence in sport, academics and community. The award recognizes Parliament as South Dakota’s best high school football player.

The 6-foot-4, 320-pound senior guard recorded 109 pancake blocks and was the tip of the sword for an offense that averaged 39.7 points per game this past season, leading the Lynx (11-1) to the Class 11AAA state title. The nation’s No. 320 recruit in his class as ranked by 247 Sports, Parliament did not surrender a sack for a second straight season and helped Brandon Valley rush for 2,905 yards at a clip of 7.5 yards per carry.

The state’s returning Gatorade Player of the Year, he will graduate as a three-time all-state selection and a three-time Riley Reiff SD Offensive Lineman of the Year honoree. Also a member of his school’s power lifting and trap shooting teams, Parliament has volunteered locally as a youth football and wrestling instructor and on behalf of a backpack food program for the underserved. He has also donated his time at a homeless shelter in association with his church youth group and has served with the Special Olympics and the Best Buddies International.

Parliament has maintained a 3.65 GPA in the classroom. He has made a verbal commitment to receive athletic aid to play football at the University of Iowa next fall.
