Centerville girls, Hanson boys claim team titles at Don Diede Relays

FREEMAN — The Centerville girls and Hanson boys won team titles at Tuesday’s Don Diede Relays. 

The Centerville girls recorded 144 points, finishing in front of Ethan/Parkston (104.5) and Hanson (76.5). The Hanson boys logged 90.75 points, holding off Ethan/Parkston (87) and Viborg-Hurley (84) for the team title. 

In girls action, Centerville’s Emma Marshall logged first-place finishes in the 200-meter dash (:27.57) and 400-meter dash (1:00.76). She also ran the anchor leg on the winning 1,600-meter relay (4:13.02). 

Menno’s Ashton Massey posted first-place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles (:15.15), 300-meter hurdles (:46.14) and set a meet record in the triple jump (35-4). 

In the 800-meter run, Ethan/Parkston’s Leah Klock (2:31.09) edged Menno’s Ellyana Ulmer (2:31.20). Ulmer ran the lead leg on the winning 3,200-meter relay (10:21.90). 

Gayville-Volin’s Taylor Hoxeng won the 100-meter dash (:13.06) and ran on the winning sprint medley relay (4:38.13). 

In boys action, Bridgewater-Emery’s Holden Wollmann won the 400-meter dash (:52.86) and 800-meter run (2:05.51). 

Mitchell Christian’s Silas Holdeman set the 1,600-meter run meet record in 4:33.15, while he finished second in the 800-meter run (2:05.54). 

Viborg-Hurley’s Luke Campbell captured first-place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles (:15.12) and 300-meter hurdles (:42.19). 

The Ethan/Parkston boys set meet records in the 400-meter relay (:44.28) and 800-meter relay (1:32.25). 

The Hanson boys won the 1,600-meter relay (3:39.49) and 3,200-meter relay (8:47.08). Hanson’s Keaton Weber won the long jump (20-4) and placed third in the triple jump (37-7). 

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s Jeffery Boschee set a meet record in the high jump (6-5.25) and teammate Cody Slykhuis won the triple jump (40-1). Boschee also placed third in the long jump (18-7). 

Menno’s Hunter Yosten captured first place in the shot put (49-8) and placed third in the discus (126-0). Menno’s Isaac Fergen won the pole vault (12-0).
