RAPID CITY — West Central’s Anthony Lanham holds a five-shot lead after Day 1 of the Class A state boys golf tournament.

Lanham fired a 4-under-par 68 at Hart Ranch Golf Club, including a 32 on the front nine and recorded seven birdies for the day. 

Chamberlain’s Dakota Munger and Vermillion’s Cooper Girard both shot 73s and are tied for second place. Milbank’s Jonathan DeBoer, Elk Point-Jefferson’s Carter Langle and St. Thomas More’s Vincent VanLiere shot 75s and are tied for fourth place. 

In the team standings, Vermillion (+20) are in first place. Tea Area (+36) and Chamberlain (+42) are second and third, respectively. Dakota Valley (+43) and Aberdeen Roncalli (+52) round out the top-five team scores.
