Chester Area boys, Colman-Egan girls win Region 4B track and field titles

CHESTER — The Chester Area boys and Colman-Egan girls captured team titles at Wednesday’s Region 4B track and field meet. 

The Flyers racked up 211 points to earn the region title, finishing well ahead of second-place Colman-Egan (97). Colman-Egan girls recorded 201 points, while Chester Area (139) placed second. 

On the boys side, Chester Area’s Jovi Wolf was a triple winner in the 100-meter dash (:11.39), the 200-meter dash (:22.17) and the 400-meter dash (:50.66). He also anchored the winning 400-meter relay team, which set a meet record in :43.16 seconds. The foursome of Alex VanEgdom, Ryan Benson, Stratton Eppard and Wolf broke their own meet record (:44.07) set last season. 

Benson set a meet record in the 300-meter hurdles (:40.08), while he also won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.21) and long jump (20-3.25). 

Chester Area also won the 800-meter relay (1:33.93), the 1,600-meter relay (3:43.25) and the 3,200-meter relay (9:00.00). 

Owen Mersch (triple jump) and Brayden Schut (800-meter run) also claimed first-place finishes for the Flyers. 

Bridgewater-Emery’s Lucas Mentele was a double winner in the discus (152-10) and shot put (51-5). 

On the girls side, Colman-Egan’s Mackenzie Hemmer was a triple winner in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.61), long jump (16-1.5) and triple jump (35-1.5), while she finished second in the 300-meter hurdles (:49.40).

Colman-Egan’s Daniela Lee was a double winner in the 100-meter dash (:12.84) and 200-meter dash (:25.90). Colman-Egan’s Reese Luze won the 400-meter dash (:59.16)

Colman-Egan’s Presley Luze, Elaina Rhode, Brynlee Landis and Reese Luz set a meet record in the 3,200-meter relay (9:56.36). Colman-Egan also won the 400-meter relay (:52.68), the 800-meter relay (1:51.31) and 1,600-meter relay (4:16.62).
